Avengers Movie SPOILER Thread

I have a question.

Maybe I missed something but -After the hulk falls off Shields ship the rest of the Avengers figure out where Loki will be planning his big attack.

After the avengers arrive in NY, Banner shows up on a motorcycle....
How did banner know where the avengers would be?...And how did Banner get there so quickly. Seems as though Banner landed somewhere hundreds of miles away.

Really fast motorcycle? :lol

I'm almost scared to say it in this thread but although I enjoyed the film I didn't think it was nearly as great as everyone's saying it is.

Ok, third time seeing this movie. Love it more each time. It finally clicked when Stark is in his tower and Coulson tries phoning. Stark says "You have reached the life decoy model of Tony Stark..." right there tells me Coulson is not truly dead....

Sent from somewhere in space & time...

If Tony's deterred missile destroyed the Chitauri control ship...why was Cap in a rush to close the portal?

Re: The avengers what did you think?

I agree the Avengers was the BEST superhero movie I've ever seen..Def going for. 2nd time it was that awesome..

What I can't understand is why is Iron man #55 going gangbusters in the pricing online and Strange Tales #135 first S.H.I.E.L.D Nick Fury isnt ? Just bought my copy today for a great price with my Avengers #1 comic 1963.

comicstomorrow, and I'll be watching it again on the midnight screening next Thursday. THAT'S how amazing this movie is. By far the most entertaining movie I've seen in ages.[/QUOTE]

Just came back from watching it. Sorry, didn't read the whole thread so I'm sure they've been mentioned.

Besides all the action, sfx etc, my most memorable moments :

- The Hulk Vs Loki scene :lol:lol

- When Thor & Hulk finish fighting the bad guys and Hulk just whacks Thor without looking at him :lol

- "Hold on Legolas .... " (or something like that) :lol

I love it when humour is mixed into these movies. Reminds us not to take them too seriously and its all just entertainment :thumbsup

I caught it for the second time over the weekend, and I dare say it was even better on a second viewing!

Did anyone else catch the blueprints for the Quinnjet at the end, and it sitting in the 3-D blueprints of the new Stark tower?

I'll probably go one more time in theaters with the wife, since I know she wants to see it a second time as well.

I've only seen it once so far so I could be mistaken, but wasn't he the only person who saw where the cube was before the ship was attacked by Hawkeye? They ran the scan and the results came up right before they were interrupted.

Don't know how he'd know precisely where they were, but he at least knew that the cube would be at Stark Tower. Maybe he just noticed the mayhem around the others since they were close by.

You're right. He looked up and said something about the results, then all hell broke loose.

The way the camera panned out on the damaged Stark Tower revealing only the A left makes me think it won't be Stark Tower anymore...

Score was rather boring and generic.
Not like you come out of there with an Avengers theme in your head,
which should have been the case.

I don't know. I kind of like the theme. It wasn't quite what I expected at first, but it has really grown on me.

The Avengers Theme - Alan Silvestri - YouTube

My only real gripe with the score is I would have liked to have heard more of the individual characters' themes interwoven. I heard Cap's when he was fending off the lever on the helicarrier, but I don't think anyone else's popped up? My guess is it was either a rights issue or an ego thing on Silvestri's part (he also did the score for Cap).

Thanos. Very good. Very very good.
But I hope it's for Silver Surfer and not a Thor sequal.

It's really time they did Silver Surfer properly now
they have a real Marvel feel and style nailed now.

I'm thinking we really won't see Thanos again until Avengers 2. He may pop up in Thor to steal the Infinity Gauntlet out of the vault, but it may just be an after the fact thing, i.e. Thor runs into the vault after it's been robbed. I'm not really expecting to see Thanos again until the direct lead up to A2.

And isn't Silver Surfer still tied up with the Fantastic Four rights over at Fox? Since they're working on a FF reboot, I doubt those rights will slip back any time soon.

Oh, it probably will become the new Avengers tower in Avengers 2.

And you know, maybe I'm over-analyzing, but after seeing it a second time I really think something has to be up with Coulson. The way he talks to Fury (and Loki, for that matter), and the fact that they specifically broadcast his death and his death alone over the loudspeakers makes me suspect something. And I don't think they even really say he's dead, IIRC. Don't they just say that Agent Coulson is down?

I'm really starting to think either LMD, or this is the origin of The Vision in the Marvel Movie Universe. Maybe Phil Coulson was the Mk 1, and the more traditional Vision will be Mk 2, or a battle form or something. Like I said, I could be way overanalyzing, and this is heavy specualtion, but maybe?

Went to watch it again this weekend and as far as Son of Coul's death I noticed something at the end.

When Hill is asking about would they come back, she turns to head for the main screens and a guy hands her something. I think the guy is Coul, he's one of the only agents they show in the whole movie in a suit and tie.

No it wasn't him. I watched it 4 times now and looked for every little clue that Son of Coul would still be alive. I'm just counting on the Trading cards moment.. Why would Maria Hill bring that up about them being in the locker....that was totally not needed if he is in fact dead. They already got their point across that Coulson was the glue that held everyone together.

Regarding the score, I also thought I heard Cap's theme from TFA (specifically the scene when Cap is running through the city and avoiding gunfire) but I think it's just Silvestri helming the score for both movies and there's a bit of similarities in some of the scores between the two. The Avengers theme score definitely has a bit of Cap patriotic feel to it.

I took it to demonstrate that Fury was more than willing to lie to the team to get the results he wanted.

........

The guilt plagued ******-like sentinal of the spaceways deserves the same treatment other Marvel characters have gotten and his own dedicated film. Frustrating to see they have the technology now to really knock it out of the park but some stupid rights issues
may prevent a proper telling anytime soon.
They'll hand it over to some boob director again.

And Shawarma is another name for a Gyro, or Hero.

And the insurance company is funny too.

Anyone notice a crow in the movie somewhere? Odin sends them to keep track of things.

I dont understand how that means coulson is alive in any way. I think it was just a joke he said to coulson

The Thanos plot development element is interesting . If I were writing it, bearing in mind Thanos does not seem to be at all unhappy with the outcome of things at the end of Avengers, perhaps it was the intention of Thanos all along that the "invasion" failed anyway, just so Loki would be captured and returned to Asgard , much like on the carrier. Where, of course he would possibly be able to gain access to the Gaunlet when he tricks /escapes from custody. Its neat , would tie in nicely with Thor 2 and into the next Avengers. Off to see it for the second time this time in 2D. Uk cinemas have been packed!
