Continuing the sculpt for the lower half of the helmet. HOPEFULLY I can have this part finished today, then I can drop it in silicone as early as tomorrow. All provided I am pleased with the results by then.

And after about 6 more hours of work, the remainder of the helmet sculpt is complete!
Now onto building the horns & tossing this into silicone.
I really, REALLY love this design so much more from his previous helmet.

Horns are totally different. I was going to see if I could cast a set of the old ones and use them as a base, but the curve and all are way different. So these are going to have to be built from the ground up, which is going to suck.

Lower helmet half ready for silicone. With any luck I will have my first helmet (sans horns) on my head by Wednesday!

Just pulled and sanded both parts of the first helmet today! I had to hold it on my head because I haven't installed the magnets yet. I am very pleased with it, it fits me much better than the Thor version I did.
Still need to start on sculpting those horns.....

I still have yet to continue any further on sculpting my horns, but I did take the time to give my helmet a coat of paint yesterday, while scepter painting.

With scepter orders of late, I've not had the chance to continue much on the horns yet.
However, this new guy is coming with me to San Diego next week!

Of course, each time I make myself something new, I immediately go and sort of top myself and make yet another.
After finishing myself yet another new scepter, some aluminum cost casting powder I had ordered arrived. Safe to say that I liked the look so much, that I am now casting a new set of pieces for myself, this time all cold cast. Not that it really matters, since everything will be painted over.
Although I did use some old brass powder I had and cold cast the upper body parts with it. I really like the added weight and feel of it, but again, it will be painted over. I am making a set in cold cast aluminum as well, not as heavy but maybe it might work better. No sense it trying both!

Are you going to be at SDCC, then? I hope my friends and I run into you! We're not doing any Avengers costumes (although I am being Wolverine on Preview Night), but I'd love to see your stuff in person- it's so well made and detailed!!

So now that I have most people's scepters under control, I had the crazy thought tonight of finally making the horns for my helmet for SDCC (even though I've yet to make the full cape/armor). As I finally sat down to look at this thing, I realized that with some alteration to the base, I can actually use castings from the other helmet!
So yeah, 2 nights to do it..... I think I've got it.
Oh, and if your name is Phil, you'd best watch yourself!
