Avengers: Age of Ultron (Pre-release)

James Spader is Ultron:

James Spader will face off against Earth’s Mightiest Heroes as the villain in Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the sequel to 2012’s record-breaking “Marvel’s The Avengers.” The Emmy Award-winning actor will play Ultron in the Avengers’ much anticipated return to the big screen from writer/director Joss Whedon. The film comes to theaters on May 1, 2015.

Spader earned three Emmy Awards for his role as Alan Shore on “Boston Legal” and “The Practice,” and will return to television this fall in NBC’s highly anticipated series “The Blacklist.” Most recently Spader was seen in the critically-acclaimed film “Lincoln” directed by Steven Spielberg and has previously worked with a long list of accomplished film directors including David Cronenberg, Curtis Hansen, Sidney Lumet, Mike Nichols, Tim Robbins, Robert Rodriguez, Steven Soderbergh, and Oliver Stone. David Mamet also directed Spader in the Broadway play Race.

“Avengers: Age of Ultron” will bring the Marvel Universe’s biggest heroes together again to face one of their biggest villains, with “Marvel’s The Avengers” director Joss Whedon returning to write and direct the sequel. “Marvel’s The Avengers” was released in 2012 and went on to earn $1.5 billion worldwide, making it the third-largest grossing movie of all time.

Spader as Ultron came out of left field but a solid choice. He's been good in everything I've seen him in, and though he doesn't strike me as a villain per say, I think his voice can lend itself well to the robotic Ultron. Probably mostly voice acting and maybe some mo-cap, though Ultron doesn't have a human face so they can easily use stunt guys for all the mo-cap scenes. What's nice about Spader is he should be ok with just being a voice for 2015's biggest blockbuster, as opposed to getting a big time actor who'll demand having his face in the movie in any way possible.

Does this mean the theory that Ultron will be a corrupted Jarvis is wrong?

Who knows? Hard to buy any web rumors right now when it's too early to know if they even have a final script yet.

Not a fan of Spader... he just bugs me. Not as bad as Nicholas Cage (whom I just can't watch anymore).

Paul Bettany would've worked well... especially since Ultron is assembled from Iron Man's armor.

James Spader is a good actor, l especially loved his character on Boston Legal and I am looking forward to The Blacklist. Also he got a great unique voice.

That will certainly make seeing out of the helmet difficult for costumers. Look how wide the eyes are set.

Why is there so many shots of a pre mk42 iron.man helmet in there ? It's weird, you see more iron man than Ultron !

Im guessing to keep it tied to the avengers. Rather then having people associate it as an IM3 sequel. Seing more iron man is to symbolise that tony stark is the creator in one way or another. As its an iron man helmet getting blacksmithed (terminology unknown) into ultron. As though ultron is a modified version or the IM suit.

Iv seen a few complaints about the teaser saying it doesnt show much. But thats the thing. Its a TEASER. The idea is to build up to a glimpse of the future. And id say seing the new villains face is quite a big deal this early in a teaser. I just hope the trailers dont give too much away like im3 did. I still think thats why people complained about all the 42 mks screen time. Even though the scene wasnt short at all.

Amen brother. The show doesn't come out for another year and a half, the fact we are getting a teaser right now is pretty cool. They haven't even started shooting!

Kind of reminded me of the Terminator 2 teaser. Doesn't show any footage from the new film and all we get is a close look at the construction of the title character. Nicely done.

Honestly, I'd like to see Deadpool as a guest appearance in the next film, especially since the previous one featured Thanos for the end-credit sequence, and hint at him "courting Death", which so happens to tie into Deadpool's backstory. I mean, Deadpool has done guest appearances in Avengers comics, so it'd be cool having him turn up. Plus, I could see him trying to beg Tony for an "Ironpool" suit and tick of Banner to the point where he Hulks out, and the Hulk tries to beat him down like he did Loki (and possibly wear out the Hulk, which would be a first).

I do believe 20th century fox has the rights to Deadpool.
