Attempting Harry Potter Props, looking for clip art advice from experts

I have seen a few posts that reference the Dover clip art series. I've purchased a few likely candidates (because I can never see what is actually in them) 1,500 Decorative Ornaments, 1,000 Heraldic Designs, and Magical and Mystical Symbols. So far nothing looks like it was used in any HP props.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of which Dover books would be the best to buy?

Thanks in advance,
Mike

Anyone have any info at all? You can PM me if you do not wish to post openly.

Thanks,
Mike

There is a site called BestBrands or something like that. It has a searchable database of various logos. I've picked up the Hogwarts crest there as well as the Imperial Cog from Star Wars. May wanna check them out.

Edit: It's called Brands of the world. Brandsoftheworld.com

Just use clipart.com. You can find a bunch of images through searches, and it's only a subscription fee instead of expensives discs.

Goodwolf, Thanks for the info. I have hit that site up in the past. I have also created my own Hogwarts crest from blowing up a screen shot and tracing/scanning.

gnrlotto, Does clipart.com definitely have items used in HP? I have done some browsing there but there is a lot of items to search. I don't want to get a sub if the items I need may not be there. I was looking in Dover because a few other threads said that many of the original props were created using Dover clip art.

I am specifically looking to reproduce the polyjuice potion recipe as well as the chocolate frog box and wizard cards (or any other Honeydukes products) so if anyone has any clip art from these or hints at where I can find them, I would be most appreciative.

Thanks,
Mike

I've seen several of the Dover pieces for Bioshock in-game posters, as well as the snake/basilisk from the "pipes" page from the second movie on there, so I'd do some more searching.

Thanks everyone! Especially Monster and gnrlotto. I spent about 4+ hours last night searching all over clipart.com and found a lot of items I was looking for. I still, however, am drawing a blank on the chocolate frog box and wizard card clip art.

Thanks,
Mike

Mike,
Were you ever able to find the Lady with Spider Hat, the twins, or the monster with arms for the Polyjuice page? I spoke with Juno awhile back and she said she used Dover for a lot of her pages but when I emailed them to search for those images, I returned zilch.

Thanks,
Zach

Yep. All clip art for the polyjuice potion can be found there. I originally had the same problem and couldn't find what I was looking for. Double check the criteria fields very carefully. Search criteria for Dover plus any of the following; spider, demon, dancing men.

Do you remember the names of the books you used from Dover for the Polyjuice potion recipe page?

Nevermind, I found them on clipart.com. But I am having trouble finding what kind of leg that is coming out of the dancing man's arm on the left. (Left Arm) It's actually his right arm with the frog legs coming out of his head. Anyone know?

I think it is the same frog leg clip art just enlarged and stretched. At least that is what I used. Hope that helps.

Thanks, you were correct about the frog leg. Now I am just trying to to figure out the font used in the title Moste Potente Potions. I originally thought it was a Blackletter font of some kind but have not been able to match the letters to any one font type. Any clues?

Yep , I have been looking to find a free download of Chancery hand or ******* secretary hand but have had no luck. Let me know if you find them.

Thanks,
Mike

You could always buy 'em. You know, the makers of these fonts are also the makers of the HP paper props. You wanna show your appreciation by stealing from them?

I personally don't want them for free. I have bought all the dover art from clipart.com and intend to buy the fonts as well, but the Chancery font, as far as I have seen, is a part of package that goes for $147.00 from A New Booke of Copies. I would like the font separately from the more expensive package.

Also, to clarify, I do not really want to "steal" from these folk.:angry I did not know (and still don't) if they are the only owners. It seems like these types of fonts have been in existence for a while and was wondering if there are any free versions or even a similar font. If not, I will save up and buy them. I have already purchased the wizard font package from them.
