AT-AT helmet part needed

Hi Guys,
I started a thread regarding needing a part for a replica I'm making from the James Bond film "Moonraker"

The part I'm looking for was ID'd by one of our own RPF's as a part used inside the hemet hanger on the AT-AT Drivers helmet.

I thought to start this thread as I thought someone knowing this part might not see my request under a thread called "Help wanted to ID Moonraker gun part"

If you go to this link you'll see closeup pics of the gun and the part in question.

Apparently, this is a sought-after part in the Star Wars community as well so maybe someone may recognize this "greeblie" and let us in on it.

The image in the upper right corner of your montage is a scratch built fan made version of the part, not the actual item.

Thanks, Chris!!!
Yes guys, in case you missed reading what I posted directly above the photo...here it is again....

"Also, here's a quick pic...
The upper left is a replica, lower left is real deal"

Ed

I think showing the replica has the potential to confuse those who may be looking for the part.
I would remove it and only show pics of the real thing.

.

Good idea, Gino.
I've replaced the original photo that showed the replica.
The photos now shown are closeups of the real deal.

The hunt begins!!!!

LET LOOSE THE HOUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It'd be interesting for someone to nail this part, although unfortunately there is little info to go on as the AT-AT driver was only photographed in a single over-exposed photo shoot and it has precious little on-screen time.

The AT-AT helmet I had access to was missing these parts and importantly there was nothing apart from a couple of glue-spots showing where they had originally been located to go on :unsure

Given some of the other parts they used I imagine its something irrelevant like a part from a washing machine or tape-deck.

Cheers

Jez

If anyone can "nail" this part...it's the members of this board.
I've seen, as I know you all have, seen parts ID'd we'de bever thought would be identified.

It might also help to post a thread in the studio scale forum. It could be a model part of some sort.

It looks almost like an upside down record player stylus, where the needle would sit into. The other end, with the 'H' shape, would connect to the arm.

Thats the sort of things that would have been available at the time to.

Another member ( CLUTCH ) thought the same and posted the following in the other thread:

"Contacted a guy who is familiar with about 1000 cartridges. Says it doesn't look like any he's seen. "

See above...according to him, that's not it (we think...LOL)
Anyone else think they know what it is?
Ed

I think it's a switch or push-button moving part, like the switches on Vader's or Tie pilots' chestbox, and what we see is the back of it.
The two plastic things protruding may be the hinge, while in the square slot in the middle goes the spring.

Something like the paddle buttons (play, rewind, etc.) on an old answering machine or portable cassette player?

Hi Ed!

Have you ever noticed this?

(still taken from Bob Burns's Halloween videos)

I don't think it's 100% the same part, but it definitely seems to be of the same 'family'...

Wow nice spot.
Looks VERY close to me. You sure it's not just the same part with the top two tabs removed?

.

Thanks! No, on this one the 'surround' seems to ramp up towards the lower end of the photo, shielding the slot part in the centre. On the Moonraker gun it seems to be the opposite, with the slot sloping upwards and protruding further than the surround?

Here's another photo (from Propstore of London):

In fact, the more I look at the photos, I think there are three different parts here - Moonraker, ESB, Alien - but definitely related to each other. :confused

I had the helmet right in front of me and didn't spot it. lol! It definitely looks related.
