Thank you. I'm going to be creating them using the orhadar pattern as a base, so if I do a run I can at least offer them to those looking for alternatives to puff paint (my friend is allergic to puff paint material so it's a shame I can't come into contact with him while I wear the suit)

Oh man that sucks. We'll hope it turns out well.

so i have been looking around for a couple of days and have found a "pearl black" fabric marker , has anyone used similar products for the blue honeycomb sections? my hope is that when the light reflects off it the pearl reflection will kick in and cause that satin look

Hey guys sorry I haven't updated in a while but I have some progress pics to share , I have finally finished the puff paint and after making the tough decision I decided to go over the blue brick pattern with a metallic silver marker, it worked out really well and isn't too metallic but the silver is definately more enhanced uploadfromtaptalk1401399530441.jpguploadfromtaptalk1401399542248.jpguploadfromtaptalk1401399552720.jpguploadfromtaptalk1401399565746.jpguploadfromtaptalk1401399576130.jpg now .. let me know what you think

I am soon going to embark on an ASM suit myself. Working on some final touches of the print file. I was going to experiment when I get the suit, but my thoughts were this. I noticed that when people puffy paint the blue sections, the profile of the paint leaves a round touch. I was wondering if anyone has tried to flatten the tops of the puffy paint while its still tacky or semi wet. If one could find a surface that was light, flat and the puffy paint wouldn't stick to, you could lay the object on the painted sections just long enough to flatten the rounded top giving it a more screen printed look.. that make sense?

Hi yea that makes perfect sense however unless the paint was very close to set I would not recommend trying to flatten it as it is extremely sticky ans could very well destroy your suit

Yeah, hence a test piece first. I was thinking if you could find something that it absolutely wouldn't stick to, wax paper, or teflon or something with the hydro barrier on it, wait until the paint is soft but not sticky... I I will try it when I get a chance and report back to you. But I think it would make a great distinction between the webs and the bricks, rather then having both with a rounded top...

Looks good. I was actually thinking of painting the bricks metallic silver too and never seen anyone do it. Now that I know what it looks like, I'll probably do the silver too.

Yea I like it just for the fact that it catches the light a bit more which is what I was aiming for and also the silver isn't to silver so blue is still the dominating colour

Metallic silver looks great, maybe more accurate then royal or navy blue.
There is Tulip Matte Black paint: http://www.ilovetocreate.com/store/product.aspx?productid=233
maybe it would look more accurate than the metallic silver. Did anyone try it?

The Black spider webbing on the red parts of the suite is matte black on the movie suite, correct me if I am wrong.

Hey, i completely agree with you, the movie suit has matte black or just plain black webbing, and i have seen a suit with black for the blue bricks, however its on an TASM1 suit and its on the first page of this thread, but im sure it would look the same on asm2 suits

if that's the case, then using this metallic silver is much better
btw did you use metallic black or matte black for the webbing on the red parts?

I might be wrong but it looks to me like you've puff painted the web lines that are meant to be stitched. Won't this make it hard for you or your seamstress to stitch it together?
