AS Darth Maul Saber Signed by Ray Park

Rather than clogging up the other thread with my experience/photos, I thought this warranted it's own thread. Yesterday I got the honor of meeting Ray Park at Phoenix Fan Fusion (formerly Phoenix Comicon). I really went back and forth on if I wanted to have him sign my Maul saber from Anakin Starkiller's recent run. I didn't know if I wanted any writing on the prop replica. I can say now that I am very glad I did. I was never big into collecting prequel stuff, but this is now one of my most prized items. First off, he is a SUPER nice guy, and spent as long as anyone wanted chatting who stood in line for his autograph/photo. We talked about the lightsaber, how he requested changes be made to the length, and many other things that I won't go into here and now. I will need to get a special stand and case to display this in (the FX saber stand was the only thing I currently had that was size appropriate). Anyhoo, here are the pics!

Pretty cool. By the way, that's exactly how I display my Maul, but it's just the lowly toy with flick out blades from a few years ago:(

Update to this:

Added the Covertec wheel to the lightsaber.

I converted a baseball bat display case into a case for this saber. After having also received another half saber from a member here, the two items fill the space perfectly. I need to fashion something to suspend the Covertec clip in the center, and make it more visible against the black. I will probably also have a custom plaque made to go underneath that.

Gorgeous. Were those brackets a part of the stock baseball case? If so, it's a ridiculously perfect fit for the 1 1/2 Maul sabers.

They are, but you only get one bracket with the smaller cutout per case (and one larger one). Luckily, I was buying multiple cases anyway, since I am going to also use them for displaying Funko POP figures, and need no brackets for those. So I had all four I needed. However, anyone with basic wood cutting capabilities and black spray paint could easily make more themselves. I had to cut one thinner, as it needed to be positioned where there were no precut grooves in the case (the one most in the center). All other three are sitting in precut grooves. You can see if you look closely at the photo of it open. I love it though, because now all weight/touching on the full saber is where the smaller metal washers are.
