hiya all

i've got four AA classic Trek phaser 1's that for some reason or anther don't work well or at all.
most of the problems seem to be with the "force setting" wheel.
is there anyone here that's good with electronics that could maybe fix 'em for me??

yeah, i know, odd request :lol

thanks!!

ha! yeah, that was the first thing i tried LOL
one phaser might only need the contacts cleaned 'cause the cheap 1.5 volts i bought leaked
but the others really have problems with "the wheel"....ya know how it has the four positions for the four different sound fx?....well, these don't LOL.
i think it's some factory wonky switches that maybe need replacing....then again i know ziltch about electronics :)

i have repaired MR and AA phasers for myself and others.
i would be glad to look at them or if you wish to try repairs yourself i can give advice.
no charge for either. :lol

pm me.

john :cool

There are supposed to be four different sound effects??? I only get two out of mine, "phaser" and "overload". :confused

Edit 12/19/08: Uhhh, never mind. I dragged it out and tried it again; as it turns out, I was only turning the "target sight activation" wheel, not the "force setting" dial. Maybe one of these days I'll learn to read the instructions. :unsure

Did you try changing the batteries? :love Seriously, adjust the clear dial "power settings" on phaser type one (the dial numbered 1-20) and it changes the phaser sound to four different modes.

Hi all - I just recently purchased a new inbox set of the TOS phaser, tricorder and communicator. The communicator and tricorder work well enough but the phaser type 1 device doesn't work at all even changing out the batteries. is there any troubleshooting you could recommend?

Was there evidence of prior battery leakage? Any corrosion on the terminals? Are they snug in the compartment & not rattling around? Are they connecting in the battery compartment? Try bending the terminals in, or shimming with some foil if they are loose.

If nothing is obvious past that, you'll have to crack into it.
