Been gone for a while, but is anyone still making working replicas? Did the search thing but alot of the threads got me no where and were to old..

or is MR the only way to go now?:wacko

No. It is bigger than ever, I think.
People have abandoned EL-blades. Maybe that is why you don't find anything.
Search for "Luxeon LED". See also Hyperdyne's thread.

I'm still building my EL blade after 2 years. The final touches are being applied right now and I should have it back within the month. The electronics was been installed right before EP3, but then it failed to work, so was taken out. Then when it finally worked I decided to add more detailing to the hilt, so it was gutted again.

I might just exchange all the guts to make it an LED blade later. Personally I don't like to go the Luxeon route; the heat sink and stuff is a bit troublesome...

I wouldn't say people have "abandoned" EL. According to Tim at www.thecustomsabershop.com he hasn't experienced a dip in EL sales since he opened business. You really just don't hear anything exciting happening in EL.

But ... Heck yeah! Ever since MR came along they gave a new light to what was a really small niche before.

It's funny too... the last two or so sabers I posted in the "Does anyone still make lightsabers" thread I posted "working" ones.

Less talkie... links.

www.parksabers.com still doing business if you like his stuff
www.thecustomsabershop.com MHS system and all about the DIY stuff
www.ultrasabers.com luxeon conversions mostly
www.plecterlabs.com DIY stuff in France... best electronics out there IMO.

Ummm... Acerocket on this board does some of the best sabers ever. Then here's a friend making sabers too www.doclocustomsabers.com, he's relatively new but does them to order and cheaply I might add.

Also a few visual aids of my own sabers I make:

cool, im gonna get a graflex from Korbanth one the members here
are there any tutorials or " how to" install these blades

Check out the links for The Custom Saber Shop I put above. Tons of threads and basic tutorials for EL and Luxeon sabers in their forums.

For a graflex you will need a special bladeholder. The Custom Saber Shop or www.graflexshop.com has them. They take care of a lot of stuff for you. They secure the blades and mount the luxeon on a heatsink. Graflexshop also has some stuff you might want too like a reproduction glass eye to act as a blade holding screw.

Then there are tons of options for how you want to light it. Check out the links.

Coincidentally I've done a graflex myself. One of my favorites. Here's a quick clip of mine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHQX6Hgk_uA

You can take a look at our sabers too, we offer the brightest saber on the market today! Nothing comes close. Plus they have been used in all sorts of events. Heck, the "inventor" of the lightsaber Ben Burtt even has one of our sabers! :thumbsup

We also came up with the wireless and accelerometer-based saber sound module, now being copied by several other "manufacturers". :thumbsdown

Anyway, here are a couple videos of hyperblades in action! :love

BTW mods, please remove reference to Plecter labs above, as he is a known recaster and IP thief.

You crapped up that other thread of illbeats/kit fisto (forcefx here) with this stuff... and after the clean up they still left it. Your claim is full of it.

Go sell crazy somewhere else. My claim is valid and a C&D is on file here. That thread was deleted as per my attorney's request.

You are just as bad as the recasters and criminals - you gleefully tout illegal wares and attempt to tarnish long-standing RPF members. You know nothing about patent law but sit there and proclaim some garbage as truth.

You should simply go elsewhere to promote infringing wares, that sort of unfair play against good-standing members is not tolerated here.

So far your presence around here is akin to a turd in the punchbowl. :thumbsdown

Strong arming the RPF with a lawyer is not the same as your claim being anywhere near valid.

For all your complaining and claim of infringement you haven't stopped him from selling... ergo, because you can't. If the RPF considered him a recaster they would have banned him... which they have not.

I could say the same about your presence... Unlike you though I'm helpful. I gave this guy ideas and the other parts I suggested to light up his graflex work just as well should he decide to use your electronics.

EDIT: Your going on my ignore list, you add nothing helpful to the RPF. Touting your own "wares" is not the same as help.

Can you two please take your bickering to PMs or emails? I'm tired of all the threads lately that start out productive but end up locked because of all the fights. I mean no disrespect to either of you. I'd just like to see this productive thread not closed.

I personally, have not done as many FX conversions or custom sabers lately because I have been so busy with my costume stuff. There certainly are still plenty of folks that are cranking 'em out though.

I presonally didn't make the hilt. I'm not even sure who did since I got it second hand and I've only seen them on eBay a handfull of times. The emitter is machined and the rest is resin.

It's not a saber for accuracy nuts, but illuminated and accuracy usually don't go that well together.

In a way, I think there's far more people making light up blades now. There's just a few specific forums for research and talk about it. Fx-sabers being prime amoung them.

Anyone know where I can find a tutorial for converting a Maul FX to Luxeon? I just noticed that the custom saber shop is now offering a kit, but I have no idea how to go about doing the conversion... :confused

Also, since the blade diameter is different for the Maul, is using the stock blade my only option? Or can I still upgrade to a more durable blade?
