Looks like some sort of sonic weapon prop. A lot of work went into that in making it look like a futuristic standard issue weapon. Perhaps my musings will stir up some ideas from other members.

Are the screws real? Have you thought about taking it partially apart to see if there are any markings on the inside?

Crossed my mind, but searching images, I am finding plenty similar, up to trying to match the front piece.

Don't the side things look like vectored thrusters? Honking muzzle brakes?

I may need a lie down...
