Anyone make The Karate Kid uniforms (Cobra Kai) ?

A group of friends and I are looking to go as the bad guys, Cobra Kai, from The Karate Kid.

Two options:

Either all go weaing the tournament costumes:

Just commenting that you'd probably be recognized from the movie more by doing the karate gear.

There's tons of martial arts places online. They may have the outfits. If not, it probably wouldn't be hard to sew some. Finding/doing the patches might be the real challenge.

Basicly Just Buy the GI top I gave the link to above and sew a Golden Yellow Strip Around the Top part. Get the Patches off of Ebay and the Rest of the Martial Arts patches from any Supply Store, and you are set.

Pretty sweet idea! I am glad this thread came up. I was actually thinking the same thing and was watching the prices on ebay for these things going up to over $200!

Bear in mind also that different characters have different patches. If you watch the tournament in KK1 and KK3, the patches are different on some of the fighters. Also, when shopping, make sure the Cobra Kai logo is embroidered, and not just silk-screened....

Now I am really fired up to do this!!
 
's funny, a buddy of mine was wearing a Cobra Kai t-shirt today and I thought of this thread.

I haven't watched The Karate Kid in a looong time - I'll have to rent it now.
 
My friends and I did these at Dragon Con this year. one of the most fun costumes I have worn to a Con. I am the one in the sunglasses.

80'stees do the best Cobra Kai replica he owns the original Johnny Gi so his replicas are good just the colour is not exact to the original screen used ones.

Screen used ones do come up for sale now and again but the main character ones sell for a lot of money like I say 80's tees owns the original Johnny one and he paid $5500 so don't think he will be in a hurry to sell that I own the original Dutch Gi and won't ever sell it and last time I saw the guy who owns Bobby's Gi wanted about $2000 for it.

I'd love a screen used Skeleton costume or screen acurate one they are excellent. Never seen any of those for sale though.

Thanks for the Heads up:thumbsup I've been on the bench about getting the 80'stees GI for a while & thats helped me descide to get get one:)
 
Got to agree with Steve. The 80's tees uniforms are top notch.

On a side note, does anyone, Steve, or anyone know of anywhere that makes a good replica patch from Daniel's uniform? I would love to get a nice embroidered patch of the sun and bonsai like the one used in the movie.

Anyone?

80'stees also do a replica Daniel Gi don't know how acurate it would be to an original but looks pretty good and says its an embroidered patch and not just a print.

There was a big group wearing these at the Wellington Sevens. They looked awesome. I approached one of them, who was wearing a blonde wig, and said, "Sweep the leg, Johnny!" He got down on the floor and attempted to sweep my leg! :lol He almost toppled me, too (I was wearing Stormtrooper armour, after all).

They even had a Daniel. He wasn't as cool, obviously (Cobra Kai are the coolest, by default).

†Your Dragon*Con and Comic Cons have nothing on this event. It is 25,000 people in costume, drinking and having fun -- just a big party. And there are no lame Power Rangers, either. :cool
