Anyone know of costume_bay quality?

I retract what I said about his quality. I got some great BSG pins from MJF at ASAP and they blow the cheap costume_bay crap out of the water.

I got his han outfits /gun belt / indy belt.
I got them all for a great price, make nice displays or for costuming.
They look accurate enough for me(and probably 90% of the viewing public at least).
I do add though, id sooner pay 100- for a pretty decent han outfit than id pay 900- for an exact replica, but im not so much a stickler for total accuracy...

i recently got a jedi uppers costume from a ebayer who had got it from a friend who purchased it from costumebase.

it was a XL, and it fits me perfectly. the tunic and tabbards and sash material are similar to screen used material, it looks the same. it has a full undertunic shirt. my only problems were the lil buttons to attach tabbards. they didnt work well, they still slipped outwards. so i used iron on velcro on top the shoulders and tabbards. they stay put now.

overall, i paid 31 bucks and am very pleased with what i got for my money.

For the price it looks like it's a good base to start from.

Also would be good for a cheap costume that you can wear to a bar on Halloween and not care if lots of beer is spilled on it. :)

Their Han Solo, I've heard doesn't seem to be bad. I've recently emailed him, and he never responded back. It's about correcting his Anakin boots, when I compare to my Leather Boutique boots.

Hmm, this doesn't sound any familier to me. I don't know where in the world he got the idea for inserting whole bunch of bottons in between the tabbards. It just doesn't seems to look the materials as the outer shirt fabric.

From now on, I'm staying away from his product. I'll hope to let other people into canon costuming to stay away from his product, just because it's affordable than other dealers who makes accurate costumes. I'm hoping to warn others to not purchase his costumes, until it gets right.

I hate walking with the Singapore boots soles. It feels like I'm walking with high heels, which I'm not a high heel footwearing type of person.

I ask to warn others that not to get convinced by his price may seems to be accurate of worth hundreds for the sets. Also, not when it's labeled as that character costumes.

I don't want to ruin his business, I admire his passion of what he's doing. But not when he's recasting from other costumes that aren't accurate as well.

He did deceive me into getting his black tunic from him to base on Anakin ROTS, which none of Anakin's Jedi outfit were ever black. And the fabric is not dyable.

whats wrong with it?
and to my point, how much more $ is the 'better' alternative?

I'm the kind of guy that thinks if your going to go for it then you better go all the way, even if the correct items cost quiet a bit more.

That just the way I think, it seems like your waisting money if you buy inaccurate stuff... imo

I guess it depends what your goal is. For example, id bet that 99% of the population wouldnt notice or care if your indy jones outfit used any old pair of brown shoes. If your outfit should 'belong in a museum' , that people are paying to see, then id answer differently.
Heck id love to own a dan morgan whip but there is NO way i can justify 900 bucks for one. For that kinda dough id expect it to be a screen used one ;)

I purchased the Anakin belt, boots, and rear pouches from CostumeBase.

Both the belt and boots are claimed to be made of leather, and though the belt performed decently, I was surprised to see crease cracks on the surface of the front top sections of the boots after the first day. These cracks are located right before the roof of the toes, where steel roofs would be in work boots. I realize that they offer both pleather and leather boots, and I purchased the leather ones. Perhaps the leather boots aren't all leather.

The seller was insistent on sending me the large size belt when I had made it clear that I wanted the medium. It took several e-mails before he acknowledged that he would send a medium belt. After I received it, it still appeared to be a size large because the smallest size is 34, and the medium belt has 32 as the smallest size. The belt was a little loose even with tunics and tabards on. The looseness made it troublesome for me to wear the MR saber because of the weight, so I had to stick with my fan-made aluminum saber.

I purchased functional pouches because I didn't know any alternatives at the time. I only used the rear set--the large rectangular ones. They are bulky and far from accurate. The irony with the large size is that there's actually very little room on the inside. The most you could fit is some change. No cell phones or MP3 player.

In summary, I would reiterate what's already been said. Their stuff is decent for the price, but don't expect it to be a bargain for accuracy, and in some cases, quality.

mine was excellent. almost movie like. a full undershirt.

only 2 things i didnt like, the tabbards didnt sit well cuz of the buttons and loops, so i ironed on velcro in their places, now they dont mmove and stay put. the other was the sash. the middle button didnt line up with loop. so i had to resew that so it lined up.

the tunic is lined with satin. looks nice and the full undertunic shirt looks good too.

soon as i can, i will post a pic of it. photobucket is down for maintenance right now.

Did you purchase the Anakin costume, or Obi-Wan? What do you mean by 'loops' when you mentioned the buttons? How wide are the tabards?

Their latest Anakin ROTS costume is supposedly an improved version, with an upgraded crinkle frabric and full inner tunic. The vinyl tabards in their auction pictures weren't cut properly, with tapered ends that don't line up. I hope yours are cut straight.

thanks, the uppers on myself are the costumebase parts. hers was made by another ebay vendor. we do go to the cons every year, mostly right in the area, but hopefully next year, since the TX con got cancelled we WERE goin to, i will make it out of state for one. i also have my vader costume to wear as well, and the newest aquisition of a MR SE ROTS lid on the way here.

I have his ANH Solo-Costume and it isn´t so bad. It´s not screen accurate, but as said before 90% of the people did not notice that.

It´s good enough for that price and i´m displaying it.

I´ve got the ESB and ANH Han Solo costumes, and purchased the Obi-Wan and Anakin boots, and several weeks ago the black imperial officer uniform with belt and cap. If you want to spend less money and don´t go for 100% accuracy, then this a good way. But if you are looking for a movie accurate costume better choose another costume-seller. Hope this helps. ;O
