Anyone ever use Silk Shoppe Acrylic Water?

I found this at the Walmart floral section of their craft area. It's meant to be poured into glass vases with silk flowers. I picked some up, but then noticed it said "Hard-Setting GEL". I was thinking it would be more like a hard resin like the clear polyester resin that Michael's and Dick Blick has. But.... gel? Anyone know how rigid this stuff is, or isn't?

Great name, huh? http://www.dickblick.com/ Minneapolis used to have a local chain of art stores called Art Sign. They went out of business maybe 10 or 15 years ago and got bought out by Dick Blick out of Illinois. They probably can get more stuff than Art Sign ever could. But I think I would have picked a different name, even if that was my name....

the 2 part goop (ones sort of yellow, ones sort of clear) is NOT a hard setting resin. It really is a gel, and is very very flexible.

I made some green lantern rings out of it, and it worked pretty good since they were able to expand over knuckles and the kids loved em, but for actual prop stuff that I would want to make or use in a collection... hell naw.

Best water clear acrylic resin I ever used was something like alumilite? It will air bubble like a ******* if you aren't careful, but man it casts up BEAUTIFUL. I have many kryptonite bullets in my collection due to this stuff. It's a little on the expensive side (but what clear resin isn't?), but the 1:1 mixture and the nice water-thin resin viscosity more than makes up for any trouble I had when I started playing with it.

Thanks for the info, Hydin! I guess I've got a Walmart return..... I thought both little bottles were clear, but I didn't look that closely.

I've used EZ Cast clear polyester (first resin I ever used) a fair amount, but not for a long time. Easy to get, but it yellows, and I seem to remember it not liking to fully cure for awhile. I seem to remember disliking it a fair amount by the time I finally discovered urethanes. Guess I'll have to look at Alumilite and see what I can find. But I do kinda like being able to go into Michaels or a hobby shop and get a little canister of that polyester. It's almost like I don't learn.... :wacko
