Anyone ever do a life sized Alien Nostromo Aliens 1:1 Helmet?

I am doing a life sized Ripley for my museum and want Ripley next
to my Queen in the Space suit.

Thoughts?

Alas, I don't think it's ever been done :( Aside from the creatures, Alien has been all but ignored by most prop replicators.

Bob Burns has Ripley's white Narcissus helmet in his basement - I've worn it :love

It's HUGE. Like "make it into a fish aquarium to get a better use out of the shelf space this is going to take up" huge. But freakin' gorgeous, design-wise.

All hilarious double-speak aside, I have a big head - and it was swimming in that helmet. I'd love to make one one day, but if it's not based off a found object, getting that clear part made would be quite a challenge.

Bumperoo...

Let's make one.

Would Bob Burns consider a loan so a mold could be made.
Made in limited number only?

I do not know him, nor have any talent for molding.

What'cha think?

Interesting idea.

Bob has tons of things I am sure would sell in very Limited Editions.

I thought BB was 'licenced' now (Kong Armature)?

I think it would have to be licensed.

Yep.

Just like the Sideshow Kong Armature.

Everybody would win, The Licensee, Bob, and us Collectors.

I know the originals were plastered with "greeblies" from old model kits. Check Martin Bowers website in the ALIEN section on the second page. There is a photo of a helmet and he mentions how it was burned in a fire. He was a great help in my SHADO mobile project.

I seem to rememnber reading a long time ago that 1 or 2 of the original ALIEN helmets were reused in the Klaus Kinski ALIEN rippoff movie "Creature". I might be wrong on that one though. Maybe it was "Outland".

I'd love to see an attempt at a fan made helmet be made.

The clear section isn't as much of a challenge as the Mighty Moff says.

Because the white section of the helmet is so big the clear part need only be a partial dome instead of a full globe.

30 - 50 bucks for a half sphere.

If their is any way to get a diameter measurement I'd be tempted to start building up a helmet.

Just guessing it look maybe 18" across the neck hole?

I would be so in for one of these.
I have a full 1:1 ripley done with Jump suit.

Bust I had done is awesome, glass eyes and all.

I would love to put this next to my Queen. and I have a life sized Bishop cut in half with goo, too...

Let me know.
Tom

P.S. Thanks. I so wish I had talent

I'd rather have John Hurt in the suit with a facehugger attached to the helmet.

Have he mannequin struggling to get it off the helmet.

Even just having the helmet with a facehugger wrapped around it would be a killer display piece.

Such a great image.

Funny you say that. I have like 4 huggers around and bought a really cool kids space helmet and plan to do just that.... IOt was only like $25 bucks, very similar to the screen used one and I plan to take a torch and melt away the space and put the hugger 1/2 in and 1/2 out.

Then take silicone for goooo, and slimey stuff and letit all dry still keeping the wet look.

I will post some pics when done.

Man oh man, I want one of these suits.

Houdini Guy- Could you change the title of the thread? It should be ALIEN not AlienS helmet.

Also, maybe about 6 months ago there was an auction of a complete Alien Spacesuit. I twas displayed publicly at an convention as well. I can't seem to find any of the pics on my hardrive. Anybody got them?

Nick

I bow down to the greatness of the Mollo.

I was just thinking how I wish there was a book of his sketches and esigns.

Great designer.

How did you get to meet him?

Spill the beans.

Nick

Yeah i met john mollo at a convention last year. funny, little bit strange guy but really cool to talk to him.

on another note, the shin pads on those ALIEN space suits look like cricket shin pads. just thought i'd tell you lol.

Great reference pics.

Looks like one could almost buildup and sculpt helmet right on the dome.

Wonder how many of the greeblies can be ID'd and found still available?

Top light unit is obiously a camera flash. My wife has broken at least 4 very similar to that one.:D Those cogged knobs appear to be repeated inside the helmet. Also looks like model kit bashing on back of helmet. couple pieces there appear to be joinable halves. Yellow handle on that little rod looks like a type of wire nut.

Be a great project.
