Anyone doing 'Planet of the Apes'?

Not an Ursus, but thought i'd preview my work-in-progress Urko. Apemania supplied helmet and collar and gloves are being worked on. Rest is my upgraded gorilla costume.

Looks great. for a better effect put on some black around your eyes. makes a world of difference.

Hi everyone,

wanted to breathe some life into this thread. Can anyone give me an idea on the bandolier ( Gorilla ) ?! I'm having major problems sourcing it out, and wondered if anyone here would be able to get one made for me ?! Some have posted their references, perhaps those "creators" ( no pun intended ) would make one or two more for fellow Ape-Maniacs ?

Thanks

Indeed. I was surprised to see this thread and realized it was a revived from an old one.

Lots of Apes here, let's gather them together. Great costumes showcased on this thread...

I am curious to see if anybody is brave enough to go ape and see the new movie in full costume. I am afraid of severe disappointment from Burton's, so not sure if I am willing to go through the extra mile only to be disappointed. Decisions....decisions!

I'm really rushing to get my son's General Ursus done in time for Halloween. I've still got about 120 armor plates to make and his pistol. The helmet is up at Mark from Fyberdyne's house right now, being fitted for the havelock (the leather flap) :)

Amazing what you can do with a 15.00 pair of Rubies Vader gloves! :lol

a few shots of the helmet, minus the havelock-

quick test fitting w/ trashbag havelock. (It'll look MUCH better with the armor plates on and the real havelock installed). :D

I'm glad to see there are still kids these days who like the old movies. It looks really good so far.

I will be going to the press screenings int he Ape and opening night in costume. High probably I will just watch in costume. I watched Star Wars: ROTS as a stormtrooper...

I might cheat...I may use the pullover mask I made for Dylan...and if it's not crowded, if my Ursus helmet is done, I will wear that too...

Urko looks so lovely!

Is that going to be flexible enough to portray emotions through the mask? Does it get glued on the face?

That's EXCITING! You should try the foam latex route...it's really more comfortable, although it takes hours to put on and remove.

I sure miss my old DP POTA mask from the 70's. They were spot on to the movies.

I checked out Ape Mania and think their mask look terrible.

Looking good everyone!!

Um, if I am not mistaken, the masks seen above ARE from Apemania ..... and since they do fully licensed masks, that's about as close as you can get nowadays .....

We all bought Black face Apemania masks for ours & think there great .So far we have had nothing but positive comments about the costumes .
The only down side is
1, you can't talk in them
2, there hot to wear

I base my comparison to the old Don Post POTA mask that looked like you were wearing prosthetics.

From what I see on the Apemania site, the hair looks like crepe hair. ugh.

The foam looks too shiny and made of plastic and the eye sockets seem to be too pronounced, almost skeletor looking.

I wish you fellow ape fans could have seen and owned the DP mask from the 70's. They were spot on.
