Anyone Build a Moisture Vaporator?

Very cool! I'll be sure to refer the guying working on one for our Tatooine set over here to check it out. We're going to have a speeder biker in the 501st room, too, and I know of another as well. We're going to be speeder biked out at CV.

It would be cool to hear from the Belgian guys how they made theirs. If I remember correctly, they told me it was the easiest of their props to build. They cut discs and wrapped linoleum around them for the tube sections, I think. But how do you stabilize the stacked pieces up the center so they don't fall over? Cut holes in each disc and stick the pipe all the way through like Wayne's doing?

That's exactly what I'm going to do. I'm kinda committed to it now :lol. I'll have to get out there and work on it some more this weekend. Thanks so much for the drawings Chris...they help out a ton!

Got a couple more hours on it today. I may use sand bags on the inside for stability. I also added a 12 inch sonotube for the middle shaft.

Coming along slow but sure.

This is so cool! How about buying smaller sized solar panels (about $50.00 for a 2 foot by 2 foot panel but you gotsta search for them), add a battery, and hook it up to outdoor patio lighting! That would be an excellent purpose for a moisture vaporator. You could even hook up some sort of chilling system and use it to cool down some brews.

Fine art with a purpose!!!

That would be neat. I'm finishing up the vain this weekend and off to paint.

Well I'm done!!

Thanks to DarthMiller and Spideyfett for the paint!

Here's a short vid of the vain spinning.....

It's going to look real nice behind the speeder at C5!

Yup was a fun project forsure, I think I lost 10lbs in the heat painting that thing... Thanks for letting me help Wayne... came out great!!

I'm making one for the Scranton Comic Book Convention. Here's a sneak-peek (of the back of it) as I finished painting it today:

I'm not going to fully assemble it till I get there. I have some clear collection tubes and silver dispensing modules I didn't want to muck up. Once it's on display I'll take lots of pics. :) I'm calling it a "GX-5 Portable Moisture Vaporator". Just over six-feet tall.

Here's my version :

(From The 24 hour moisture vaporator)

The 24 hour moisture vaporator
A more accurate title would be:
"Building a moisture vaporator in 24 hours with whatever I have in the garage"

We needed a prop for the Marin county fair, and of course I put it off until the last minute.

Not screen accurate, not to scale, but still pretty neat !

It also has built in lights and sound effects:
