Any update on QMX's Mal's gun?

I personally have nothing against Steve and QMx, I have never met him or ordered from him. I was actually hoping that they would end up successful and be able to do a version of the Deckard Blaster that I know Steve had worked on in the past. I do question whether or not that the fact that they are a legitimate company makes them less in need of criticism when things are not up to snuff? Wouldn't they be getting it a lot worse if they were an individual? All I do know for sure is they better get cracking because Sidkit is making metal kits of the gun now.

The other thread was removed at the request of its author.

Is this an innocent case where the author simply asked for removal of a thread? Or is this a case like the previous infamous "negative turning thread" staff decision where the staff made it VERY CLEAR that not only was the thread deleted but that any continued talk about said topic was verboten on the RPF by anyone?

*SHRIEK*!!!!!!! A metal Firefly Mal witha working trigger? Sign me the f#$% up!

Can anyone speak to the quality of the items from Sidkit and his genreal seller reputation? I've not dealt with him before.

Very interested to hear people's opinion on this as well. I know the name from his BR Blaster, but not much else...

This I gotta hear more about. Any way we can make a new thread about this?

Also looking forward to more updates on the QMX gun. :thumbsup

I hear tell that it's been delayed. You should email QMx Customer Service. They reply to every, single email they get.
No no... I can wait until an official announcement is made on their site. I haven't pre-ordered or paid anything, so I don't have any financial investment in this. :thumbsup

Well, the did send out a very informative newsletter recently. You should consider getting on their mailing list.

On QMX's site, if you check your Mal gun order the status now says "shipping 3rd quarter". So yes it is delayed again.

We haven't removed THIS thread, have we?

That said, usual rules of civility still apply.

So basically where are still at the point where we left off. No news on when the Mal guns are shipping. Plus I understand they are having problems with the Drac rings as well. It would be nice if we could get answers without the condescending tone we recieved in the previous thread.

Congratulations folks.

Here is a prime example of how to get this board examined and possibly shut down.

QMX with all their delays and BS, is still a licensed entity.

SIDKIT is not. This clearly involves the RPF in a loss of revenue to QMX. Provided they actually ever get it done.

So just keep throwing those red flags in the air and lets see if we can get ALL the studios here looking to shut us down.

Thanks.

I know it is a technicality, I understand and agree that promoting unlicensed , piracy is bad bad bad idea and not something to do on the forums, but here is my question:

I thought I read some time ago that Fox was not licensing "Firefly" and that it was open to fans with the blessing of Joss Whedon, so the T-shirts and garage kits were open season. Is that the case when it comes to "Firefly" and not "Serenity".

Again I understand and would never argue about supporting pirated material, but is this the case here?

Obviously this thread took a turn for the worse and the QMX thread shouldn't be a place for promoting a competing product while insulting both a member of the community and his fledgeling prop company. It's too bad that this seems to happen to frequently in the model and prop communities, people accepting deposits on projects, and then failing to meet timelines they set forth. It isn't new, it is hardly surprising anymore, but it keeps happening and people keep getting into fights over it.

Setbacks occur, the key to dealing with them is communication, clear communication. People that Pre-ordered or put down a deposit shouldn't have to ferret out, or sign up to receive updates, they should be given by the folks that took the money, in a timely manner. You can't make everyone happy, but you can keep them informed, even if the ETA is unknown. It is hard to find blame with the guys mad about the delays, it is easy to understand why they are mad, it is also easy to see why the QMX folks are unhappy, getting verbally abused in public over something that they certainly didn't want to happen sucks and is frustrating, some of it would be mitigated by better communication.

I am still hopeful that QMX will recover from the Mal gun debacle and land on their feet, I have set aside money and am extremely excited about the possibility of the Serenity scale model.

You guys all need to get together and have a beer, or a cup of coffee, vent your frustration, get it out, and move on.

What's is clear to me is that someone got fed up of waiting and canceled their order and went elsewhere i don't see how it involves the RPF ?
This transaction didn't take place through the board and Mechamaniac is just informing people of his actions not telling them to do the same.

The easiest solution is not to pre-order. I know that is not a realistic expectation but at least it would put new companies in the position of actually having the product available when it goes on sale. I know that Sidkit is not licensed to sell Firefly products (is anyone?) but at least he seems to get around to making real product. That makes it tempting to us prop fans who don't usually display vapor on their shelves.

That makes sense because everything sold in the Junkyard is licensed right? :rolleyes

However, out of deference to the other members here, I have removed the offending reference. So, now, my order is just cancelled, and Dmsyzo can still stick it in his snark.

A valid concern.

Not sure which license QMX holds with regard to Serenity or Firefly.

Regardless...what a case of serious irony if QMX actually pursued Sidkits with a C&D…

The licensed company (which cannot give firm dates for completion of their product, lacks customer service skills, belittles their customers, and cannot fulfill orders for past projects like the Dracula Rings) shuts down the bootlegger who is the exact opposite of the licensed company when it comes to customer service, order fulfillment and so on.
