Here's my new project, Skullknight, from the amazing manga Berserk.

I've only been tinkering with it here and there for now. It is going to also have his signature spiked collar for those who know the character.

Comments welcome, please--and don't hold back.
Thanks!

Please keep in mind that this is a helmet and not an anatomical skull.

I love Berserk! I've watched the TV show and read alot of the manga (not all....extremely long series). It's a series begging for an anime remake or maybe even Hollywood treatment (if done faithfully to the source material)

Good job on the Skullknight bust. (y)thumbsup

Have they gone beyond Season 1 of the show? It's my favourite anime. I quickly read the manga (poor internet translation), but I think I only got to issue 20 or 21. Which, IIRC is only a few books ahead of the show.

It just got too confusing with the added characters (or I guess excluded characters from the anime). I'd watch another season of the anime, though.

There WAS only one season..... :unsure

I remember watching the last episode and was like...where's the rest? It really begs to be remade with newer CG anime visuals.

Quick new update. I made him a little less angry looking by shaving down the mass above the nose ridge. I also added more to the top back of the helmet for less of a slope than before, and I started on the spike crown.

New update--SPIKES, YEAH! I used Roma #3 clay for stiffer working medium. The spikes aren't all perfect yet and still a bit mishappenned. I'll probably pick a few of the good ones and just mold those for reproduction. Right now they are all there for size and placement.

I finished skulpting the head and got approval for molding. I decided to do a case mold for better strength and longevity. I'll be pooring the silicone tomorrow, which I'll vacuume out the air bubbles first before pooring.

Finished sculpt:

After removing the clay and putting one side of the jacket back on, you can see what the thickness of the silicone will be:

New update--I started on the spiked collar with the first casting of the head. I'm using foam for the collar (hell of alot qicker). Right now the collar is set to be able to adjust the size till I get final approval.

looking great! You've managed to give this a very "real world" appearance but still stay true to the manga and anime source material.

I really liked your 1st berserk helmet but I like this even better. I can't wait to add one of these to my collection.

You are seriously going to get me shopping around with CNC shops again to get a Dragonslayer made. I had a friend put together a render compatible with Rhino / Maya but couldn't find a shop willing to or capable of working on a piece that size.

It's been a while since my last update, but I started painting. This is just the first tarnish over a whitish/silver base. I'll be drybrushing the highlights back in soon after this dries a bit.

Perfection
I wish I had the mulah to invest in a copy of this and the Berserker.... damn :(

Here are some pics of the finished paint job and assembly with the base and clear acrylic rod. The pics have both flash and flash off--I couldn't decide which way was better. I also took a pic of the head rotated slightly for character. Next I'll be focusing on the glowing eyes:love
