Anovos Trek/BSG Costume Photo Shoot

I'm such a nerd my first thought was how awesome those costumes are and my second was "Oh, Matt; where are your Academy points?"

I definitely dropped the ball on that one :lol

E-Wan, it's your turn to post your favorites from the shoot!

That was such a fun afternoon! Angel and Amanda were the cutest members of Starfleet, while Matt and I tried our best to keep up!

I think people are missing the point of the shoot a little, which was to showcase the Trek and BSG costumes with everyday clothes and everyday settings. Otherwise we'd have done the shoot at the Apple Store :lol

Based on those photos I do actually get the feeling that the Trek '09 female uniform could actually be worn as 'normal' clothing. The way Laam wears it with the heels makes it look like it could be a comfortable summer dress. Overall you guys look like you had fun and found the uniforms comfortable.

Oddly enough, after the shoot we went out for dinner wearing the nuTrek stuff. While amanda got her usual share of gawkers, nobody was like "omg girl in costume trek style!!!!" so i guess they do blend pretty well. Lol

They do blend in, they are not to Costumey for want of a better word.

Got a similiar story, when The Trek exhibit was at the Smithsonian, I met up with a few out of towners there who were attending a Trek con at the same time and no one gave me a second look while I was wearing a Next-Gen uniform.

The next day we went again and I was in a TOS Uniform and got mobbed everybody wanted a Pic!

I am no Trek fan, but I know enough to weep for these two lost Ensigns. *sniffle*

This was a very fun shoot. Everyone take a step back a moment, this was not necessarily a product shoot but something more born out of a few drinks from the Laamberry welcome party. The fun test: Could costumes, either Trek or BSG be blended into daily life? Thus, the idea was very America's Next Top Model-esque where I asked everyone to bring normal clothes to Matt's place this weekend. We threw together some combinations so thus the out of the normal type look. The last set was literally put together for Dear Mr. Munson, since he was so gracious to make the arrangements for us, which was "The Most Interesting Captain of the Fleet" series, closely mirroring Dos Eque's Most Interesting Man in the World campaign, which closely mirrored Chuck Norris - lol.

Munson and Ewan really rocked the shoot but I have to say, our two ladies were incredible. Angel IS BSG and Laamberry is Trek XI. I loved both their looks and when teamed up all together as a group just makes a really fun day of costuming and photography.

I just want to insert that I shot all these and as you can tell... am still quite the amateur when it comes to composition, so yes, am very interested in constructive criticism to get better, BUT PLEASE, PM me instead. This is Matt's thread and I wanted to be everyone understood the frivolity that went into it.

Personally, I think we should continue Rogue BSGer's and Most Interesting Captain Series. Its fun and heck, yours truly enjoys the opportunity to become a better photographer!!

PS- Those jackets... are mine. I am a bit of a jacket fiend myself...

I know someone asked, but The black nylon biker's type jacket and the long grey are from Zara's 2009 Fall and Winter Collection, respectively.

Jose, I think the BSG stuff EASILY fits into every day life a hell of a lot easier than the Trek stuff. Awesome work you do there.

:lol:lol:lol Well, that just takes all the fun right out of it!

Looks like a fun shoot, great color and nice pics. Not sure if the costumes in real life idea really worked, but the most important thing is that it looked like fun!:thumbsup

Exquisite photos Jose, a very clever and unorthodox approach which converged magnificently. All the folks involved making this swell shoot happen enjoyed every second and its shows, kudos guys. :thumbsup

It looks like a great photo shoot I ordered Star Trek blue tunic from Anovos in Jan just waiting on it coming in. Oh and I love that you blended the uniforms into daily life. I always try to show a little scfi pride when I can.

Then again, holding your tongue back is like asking the sky not to be blue :lol:lol:lol

I am very interested though in feedback - This is Matt's thread and just wanted to be respectful.

Havoc1 - we had some QC issues with the quality of the dye and thickness of the fabric received for manufacturing, thus the delay. Regardless, I had samples in hand earlier this week for production and I have to say its actually BETTER in color match for this lot than our production prototype.

Thanks for chiming in GotMaul! I must confess, that was one of the most fun days I've had in a while now. Great to spend the afternoon with some fellow fans/RPFers, and also to feel like a superstar in front of the camera! :lol

It's also not entirely rough to see your lady-friend looking pretty darn fetching in some Trek garb! yay!

I REALLY want e-Wan to post his favorites too. I am curious to see what the verdict will be: who is the most interesting captain in the galaxy?

What was it that e-wan said? "Even when his phaser is set to stun... it kills"

Mark it down Matt, your name got used in the same sentence as the word "respectful." A day to remember.... oh wait... no I was thinking RESPECTABLE!!! Now that would have been epic. ;)

Definitely a red letter day in my history here at the RPF. :lol

Even when his phaser is set to stun, it kills.
He has no trouble whatsover with tribbles.
This side of Paradise is whatever side he's on.
His engines can take it.
He is... the most interesting Captain in the fleet!

I need to go through the disc and pick out some good ones.

And big thanks to Joe, Matt and Amanda - this was an incredibly fun way to kick off the long weekend.

He has no trouble whatsover with tribbles.

That one is awesome! Love it!

I had one that was percolating. Something like "The holodeck NEVER malfunctions when he is using it."

"his warp engines go to warp factor 11"
"He holds the key to the city on the edge of forever"
"The Tantalis device was created to contain him. But it couldn't"
"Those giant flying brain cells are from his head"

Ok, I'm reaching now. I'll give it a rest :lol

What a fun shoot! Great pics :)

And soooo jealous you guys are wearing Anovos stuff....gah I want to try it on so bad!!!!!
