Anovos Protest

Glad to know somebody at Anovos has the lucrative job of getting paid $40/hr to put crap in boxes...
INAL but I thought there was some weird clause where they have to specify “Shipping & Handling” rather than just “Shipping” in order to legally uncharge like that.. am I being crazy Rick?
Im sure some slimy wording is probably hidden in their terms and conditions though..

I have no idea what they are doing. It really looks like a lack of care when everything is just stuffed in the smallest shipping box they could find. It was torn on one end and luckily nothing fell out.

Over three months with NO reply from customer service. Not ONE and they sent me an invoice for my Han Solo SHIRT ONLY when I ordered the entire ensemble.

I haven't got a horse in this race but this is nothing more than fraud by deception. There actions are despicable and in all fairness Lucasfilm should have stepped in by now. It just proves that not only do Anovos give a damn, but neither do Lucasfilm or Disney.

Anovos and EFX have both been shocking appointments by LF. Take the whole lot of them and hand it over to RS props. Harsh comment maybe, but true.
RS Props is great, but they have a pretty narrow line of products. They do not have interest in producing many of the products Anovos has in their Star Wars line. There is actually not much overlap in products between RS and Anovos.

They will blame it on their “Fufillment center”

I have no horse in this race as i am a young collector with only a handful of items, but there is no way on this green earth i would pay full price for something and then wait three years to receive that item. The money you are losing on investment value of that money is criminal in itself. 3 years ? Did you know you would be waiting that long ?

I understand that people believe the quality is out of this world but if a company does not respond to me within three days after years of waiting and they have thousands of my dollars we are going straight to court no questions asked.

If they did not refund me immediately i would be going to court. In Europe, or Ireland at least we seem to have much stronger consumer protection legislation to stop errant companies doing this. This seems very shady.

It seems stateside you guys do not really have much of an option but to accept their attitude because their is no competition and they already have your money. From a business perspective these delays do not seem to make a lot of sense, if they are swamped with orders then they need to hire more staff to fulfill the orders. They arent building Tesla's in a desert ramping up production should not be this difficult.

For what it's worth, A LOT of faith is put into sellers/makers to come through, especially since it has worked in the past, and this was 2 of our own who had great reputations here and I think we all wanted them to succeed as well as seeing items produced that have never been produced at that level AND licensed. Lots of hopes and dreams based around that even though there are plenty of examples shown where it fails through here on the board and they did not set out to be scammers.

Some of this stuff takes time to produce so SOME of the long wait times are actually the "norm" for items. The Inigo Montoya sword(5 years to fruition), among many others come to mind, I was just a young collector when you had to wait months to over a year for a garage made ST armor, so I feel like the our community tends to have a lot of patience to begin with because of the storied history like that.

Also a part of that storied history is companies who go out of business before producing their paid for items and leaving the customer with no item or no refund(for good or bad reasons). Sometimes its a "garage builder", who simply took on more work than they could handle, who loses their reputation and faces/gets banned from this site. Then you also have the people who just want to take as much money as they can and run. It has all happened on this board since it's inception and many in-betweens, I kind of broad stroked it here.

All that creates a fanbase that will grab pitchforks and torches at the first delay, to those who continue to defend a maker, well after the dust has settled and of course everything in between.

Full disclosure, ANOVOS doesn't owe me anything, I did purchase something from them however. It was a small instock item(Han ESB belt tools), that still too almost a month to make it to my door. I, like many if not most or all here wanted them to succeed as they had many, many items I wanted, and I believe we all wanted a licensed high quality prop/costume maker to "make it" for a change since we're like 0-4, 0-5 now?

The law firm contacted me back and I’m on board the class action.

I’ve heard people here say this a few times and I have to call the “bull€#!+ flag” on this.

And I have to say one word to back it up:

Sideshow.

They do preorders all the time and I have NEVER been shafted by them. And also there is a major difference between a member here on the board who has a full time job that’s super talented willing to make stuff for people and a company that’s stealing from people. ANOVOS isn’t fulfilling orders and they are STILL OFFERING PREORDERS on product. This is bad business and it needs to stop.

EF/X is the same in my opinion.

Wow, I just received 2 retro Star Trek t-shirts ($50 each) and 4 pins ($8.50 each) from Anovos. All six items were stuffed in a small USPS flat rate box ($9.95) and they charged me a whopping $102.21 in shipping costs. Unbelievable. The shipping cost was almost equal to the cost of the items.View attachment 1031286
That is inexcusable and INSANE. I'd see if there's a way to get that back. INSANITY.

I don’t disagree with you a bit. I was just trying to give a very broad(maybe too vague), overview on how and where the “will wait for extended periods of time” culture comes from for that self proclaimed new collector that I quoted.

Sideshow’s business model works for them and they Have been able to grow into some props, but their number one items sold are 1/6 scale action figures.

So Sideshow doesn’t count as a prop company of the likes of ANOVOS, EFX, MR, SDS, Icons, and that “super ridiculously priced blink and you miss it” company.

Agreed! I’m just really confused at where these companies get off. I mean, tell people up front the waits. Then deliver. And if you can’t, be HONEST about it. Lying and spinning tales that it’s the customer’s fault for canceling orders when the delays become more than a YEAR or more, is absolutely inexcusable.

And now? Taking MORE MONEY and hoping they can finish the past orders with the new cash and praying this “steal from Peter to pay Paul” model is going to kill them.

As soon as the class action lawsuit breaks, I guarantee you they’ll declare bankruptcy and we’ll all be screwed.

I agree it feels incredibly shady and without knowing all the details I can’t say why they would continue to do any new business.
Hopefully when all this is over, we get to see everything that happened behind the curtain if nothing more than an(other) example of what not to do.
