Anovos Protest

Yeah I hope when this is all over and the dust settles a competent company gets the chance and it’s not just given to a large company like Hasbro who will just make cheap plastic helmets with bad voice changers in them. Not to say Hasbro couldn’t make quality stuff...they have the resources I’m sure...but will they?

The license would be perfect for Hasbro.

They have been extremely reliable. Every pre order is shipped on the first estimates release date.

They make so much profit on toys and other interlectual property that a new subdivisionary providing high end costumes could be sustainable with little to no profit. Hell they do it with Force Fx sabers and make props under the toy license for marvel and star wars.

I have said this before!

I'm sure they would do high end stuff. Look at their Black series and marvel legend props and fx sabers. They are pushing the boundaries for props under the toy license.

True! As long as they understand there is an actual market for limited editing, highly detailed pieces. The problem is look at the Vader helmet. It could have been perfect but they went cheap and resculpted. Why?

Because there is a larger market for a $100 "looks good enough" than the $300 "almost there" of $1,000 "perfect".

I’m not sure I agree. Because mostly it’s people like us they’re catering to. I have never seen my if the Hasbro stuff from this line in a TRU. usually they sell more on internet sales. And I don’t know any parent that’s buying their kid a $100 helmet. [emoji23]

I did :) Several of them in fact.

In the UK they have been stocked by several High Street brands as well. But that's the point. Hasbro (or the Wand Company for that matter) are not catering for the hardcore collector. They are catering for the casual fan who has a bit of cash to splash. These people don't want, and many can't afford, the accuracy others here crave.

I believe a lot of it is what they have the license to do and not conflict with the license that another company has. The black series line are toys geared toward the adult collector. They need to walk a fine line and not conflict with high end costuming license of Anovos or the prop replica license of eFx.

I have no dog in this race so to speak ( I don't collect helmets and have never bought from Anovos) but I think everyone needs to ask themselves one question, why put up with the bad service? Would you preorder a cell phone then have it delayed 2 to 3 years? Would you purchase a refrigerator and be told it is out of stock and wait 3 years for delivery? No you would not. When people put money in the hands of people that will delay, delay, delay then why would that company NOT continue delaying making a product? If everyone stopped buying from a company like this and supporting this behavior the company would either fix their business model or go out of business.

I think the big difference here is there is no licensed competition. Sure if a company that made phones delays orders, your could go elsewhere to get a phone, but for many of these replicas and props however this is your only choice?

I have no horse in this race as i am a young collector with only a handful of items, but there is no way on this green earth i would pay full price for something and then wait three years to receive that item. The money you are losing on investment value of that money is criminal in itself. 3 years ? Did you know you would be waiting that long ?

I understand that people believe the quality is out of this world but if a company does not respond to me within three days after years of waiting and they have thousands of my dollars we are going straight to court no questions asked.

If they did not refund me immediately i would be going to court. In Europe, or Ireland at least we seem to have much stronger consumer protection legislation to stop errant companies doing this. This seems very shady.

It seems stateside you guys do not really have much of an option but to accept their attitude because their is no competition and they already have your money. From a business perspective these delays do not seem to make a lot of sense, if they are swamped with orders then they need to hire more staff to fulfill the orders. They arent building Tesla's in a desert ramping up production should not be this difficult.

It seems some of these replica/cosplay companies basically adopted (invented?) the Kickstarter/GoFundMe model. It's a great way to get started, but it doesn't appear to be a practical way to maintain a business.

Hopefully there is a good resolution for all involved.

I wouldn't have a problem with Hasbro getting the replica prop license in addition to what they already have since they are a big company unlike Anovos that has a couple of employee's as long as the replica's are high quality and not just a re-do of their toys.

I agree except for one thing, just don't buy it. None of these items are things that people can not live without, they are for all intents and purposes decorative collectibles or at best something for cosplay. If more people took this attitude then companies would HAVE to walk the line and do what is right by the customer. Again as I stated before I have never bought anything from Anovos and not because of their reputation I just never wanted to buy anything from them. I don't have an axe to grind with them at all and hope that there is a positive outcome for everyone, I just wish that people could stop dealing with businesses with questionable business practices. The best way to show companies that the customer is King is by keeping the wallet closed :)

Agreed. I can not believe they’re not only NOT responding to customer service emails at all now, but they’re also STILL TAKING PREORDERS. AND PEOPLE ARE BUYING.

I have nearly $2500 in unfulfilled orders going back nearly 2 years.

I was once a very satisfied customer. Everything I have gotten from them, including the monster maroons that took 18 months to arrive, was of very high quality. No more. I asked for a refund and got crickets.

I'm looking at the BS helmets, Vader in particular, although the TK to a certain degree as well. They're nice toys, but the kinds of weird things in those two buckets (leaving aside the things obviously done to hit a price point and fit a shipping box, Vader's curved mouth, oddly wide face, and just generally...off....sculpt for example) do not exactly inspire confidence that Hasbro could handle high-end costume replicas.

Wow, I just received 2 retro Star Trek t-shirts ($50 each) and 4 pins ($8.50 each) from Anovos. All six items were stuffed in a small USPS flat rate box ($9.95) and they charged me a whopping $102.21 in shipping costs. Unbelievable. The shipping cost was almost equal to the cost of the items.

All I have to say is when is enough is enough.
