ANOVOS issues (ANOVOS ONLY discussion)

Looking forward to when the Imperial Death Star Gunner announcement comes out.
Hopefully by end of this year.
Just happen to stumble on this thread and saw the updated snowtrooper info.
Good to know.
Please don't forget to post any snowtrooper & atat driver production updates in their respective threads.
Buyers don't need to hear all production news, but still good to see updates every once in a while.
Thank you.

Roger that ! Will update accordingly!

Got Maul is it a possibility we might see Anovos offer a wearable C3PO?

Yah, just waiting on the 3PO to get back in archives so we could scan the monster costume.

Regarding various things...

I know it sounds blasphemous on here, but Rubies actually did a surprisingly good job on their ROTJ Royal Guard helmet. The rest of that costume was varying degrees of painful, but the helmet was a very pleasant surprise. The only thing I needed to do to it was add some red lighting gel to both darken and red-tint the visor.

I know you already know this, but the AOTC, ROTS, and ROTJ versions of Red Guard are all different. I don't know how you wanted to approach this. The ROTJ seems a natural first offering, to go with the Original Trilogy slant of your offerings to date. I was surprised by Brian's book, and the info he gleaned from Nilo and Aggie, that the fabic for the Guard costume was custom-dyed. I know most things for the OT were, but I remembered reading at the time (and am still looking for that source) someone from the costume department saying they'd used theater curtain material -- which is available in that color factory-standard.

One thing, though, that I want you to examine with your particular care is the fabric itself. Most everyone says velvet, but the shine is off. The theatrical curtain supply house reps I talked to when trying to ID it over a decade ago all said, from the drape and shine (or lack of) and weight and such, that it was, with utter certainty, cotton velour, in the 18-22-oz. range. As you'll know from your research into Trek uniforms, most people hear "velour" and think of the shiny synthetic stuff, but there're a lot more varieties out there than just that.

I also want to know, from your foray into the Archives for this costume, whether the original opera gloves were the suede they look to be in test-fitting photos.

Lastly for this costume, the pike... The story persists that the main shaft was some variety of deep-water fishing rod -- same make and model as the hundreds that were used to detail the Death Star II reactor core. All of my efforts over many years haven't turned up anything, one way or the other. Likewise the source of the emitter tip. It looks to be a hob gear cutter on its mounting shank, but delving into early-'80s vintage hob gear cutters is not an easy thing.

Next order of business... The troops on Leia's ship at the beginning of Star Wars (I reject the label of "Rebel Fleet Troopers", as it's stupidity of the highest order to have uniformed Rebel soldiers on your ship if you're trying to maintain the cover of a consular vessel). Are you going to tackle these guys at any point? I'd line to have better options than the "close enough" approach of using BDU pants that aren't quite the right color, Navy workshirts that aren't the right color or construction, etc...

And third, I think my last PM to you a couple months back got lost in the shuffle. ;) Had a question for you...

No different than having Marines stationed at consulates, I think. But great costume suggestion!

Well, different in that I think if a US emissary boarded a US senator's private craft and found them guarded by North Korean soldiers, a few eyebrows might be raised. Why I reject the "Rebel" appellation. I've had some speculative conversations about this being revisited in the wake of the EU abeyment.of what an objective, fresh viewing of the OT can yield, and I'm of the opinion that this is the garrison uniform of the Imperial Senate Guards. Food for thought. ;)

P.S. I still love your Boba boots and am grateful I got them.

I agree 100%. Whoever coined the term is just a lazy thinker. I would prefer Alderaan Fleet Crewman. It would also be realist that the standard uniform does not include the helmet and holster rig. Instead it would seem more likely that it was battle dress as a result of calling battle stations and crew members reporting to their respective ship lockers. That's where they received the helmets and weapons. Much like in those WW2 movies when you see sailors sporting the helmets and life vest when the alert is sounded.

My thinking was that they were analogous to the guys in black uniforms and helmets in Imperial service -- different divisions of the same macro-structure. Both garrison uniforms. The black ones get replaced by the familiar white battle armor in the field, the blues-and-grays of these guys gets replaced by one or both of these or something similar:

I like the idea of the royal blue of the Republic era fading along with the Republic into this sort of blue-gray for the Senate Guards... Captain Antilles and the ship's crew would be wearing the Alderaanian Guard uniforms. ;)

Well, they were called ROYAL Guards (the guys on Leia's consular ship) in the very first sketches... which makes sense, since Leia is a princess.

And those red folks around the Emperor were IMPERIAL Guards.

It could be so easy...

Now back to the regular ANOVOS program.

Thanks for your answer Got Maul.

The way you talked about the AT-ST helmet shows that some other props would be possible like the imperial gunner helmet, a royal guard costume and why not a full x wing pilot costume...a lot of new fans and people in the 501st migth be inteterested as I am to buy some helmets for trooping or just to have a cool piece to display.

Fyi-just noticed on the company facebook page two interesting recent updates:

1. reminder for snowtroopers to send a preference email to their Support email on "yes" weathering or "no" weathering.
I used the Order Confirm email as the reply message.

2. Orange is the new black.
For those on the other side of the fence, hopefully you get to chose from different Reb pilot helmets.

Looks like things are on pace.

Hi Maul- Any chance of seeing a production sample of the snowtrooper weathering before we have to commit to clean/dirty?

I wonder of the TK post went up yet...oh wait. spoiler.

SO you and EFX are both producing TK? After watching the EFX video, if I am interpreting it correctly, they are basically producing a statue where you would be producing a costume for wear. Is this an accurate assessment?

Efx TK Hero most definitely a display piece, as confirmed in Wondercon interviews. And seeing that Anovos has been producing wearable costumes up to this point, I would assume that they are making theirs wearable. :)

You guys nailed it ! Efx's will be the primo awesome uber accurate statue form, ours is meant for wearing and we made idealized some details to ensure proper fit with most. We will also be offering a kit form too. Keep an eye out for your newsletters and Facebook page.

I want the kit too, but am concerned about the sizing. Is the armor actually different sizes?

Yea thats the one catch for me too. I'm young enough that I could still grow a bit and I'm already 6' 2". This is a really great price. Even for the completed one. I am headed to celebration this week so I am hoping they will have it at their booth in both forms to check out. I also hope to talk to a 501st rep there to discuss it's possible 501st qualifications.

$350 for a complete Stormy. Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What do people think about it, accuracy, etc.??????

Hell of a deal.

Is there a limit on the pre-order or is it as long as our order is in by the 4th????

I dont think theres a limit on number. And its not $350 for a complete one. It's $350 for the complete helmet and the armor kit. No shoes either. But stil thats a phenomenal deal. Especially if it's 501st Certified.
