Another Zvezda Star Destroyer

thanks guys - gad to see there is some interest still present - even Coming up to the 5 year mark!
I made my molds today and even pumped out casting
So, tonight, I shall finish off penciling in the panels and tomorrow make a start on the rest of the buildings. Finally, some progress

thanks for the kind posts guys. I will be checking out that Fiber store a bit later
OK, well, I have finished putting in all the panel lines and I am really happy with how they came out. It was a fair amount of work but IMO, worth every minute. I reckon it took a total of about 4- 5 hours to do the whole ship - which given how long its taken me to get this far could be considered mind blowingly fast
:)

then you put it all together and you get this:

And finally, the obligatory bridge shot:

Well, that's it for now. I'll continue working on the base until I get some more fiber. I still need to add a clear coat to the ship and then I'll do a small wash in places to bring out more detail but other than that, yeah, the painting side is pretty much done. Open to any suggestions on how to make it better

As always, thanks for continuing to stop in and have a look

well done...its nearly perfect. this mecanical pancils work so well on so many panel lines in this scale !

Thanks Vomvom - I really appreciate that :)

I have finished building the machinery stuff for the hole section on the right side of the base. It's made up of 2 layers which will be sufficient to give a scale of depth. You won't see much if it but I will be adding some lights under the first floor to make it more visible and for some interest (gotta have more to look at than just the ship right?)

This is now all ready for paint which I will do tomorrow night.

Ground floor:

And with the top plate on:

Simple but effective I think. I'll take some more shots once it's all painted etc

God, all of this looks so beautiful.
The details are numerous, yet subtle when looked at from a distance. That's realism, baby!

Btw, what are those little ladder-like things seen in the last picture?
Are those railings from a model ship?

continuing on with the base, the insert is painted and lit:

I have sprayed black underneath since taking that shot to add light blocking. It looks pretty good to me
The walls have also been started. You won't see much once the middle layer is added but there is enough to make it interesting:

Well, that's it for now but I'll update this again once the bottom layer has been finished. I think I'll need to black base the bottom first before I start on the top layer as it'll be impossible to get in there once the middle deck has been added. The top plate is almost ready for paint too. I still need to add frame work to it which I'll do once the bottom part is done.

As always, thanks for stopping in and having a look
