Very welcome, the heat will help loosen the glue between the rubber sole and upper shoe.
I see your up in Sacramento, did you feel the earth quake?

Re: Another Star Lord build (update to boots 8/22)

I've done this process before for my Mal boots (well, I'm in the process of doing it) and I got the same starter shoes linked up above on Amazon cheap on ebay. I'm just going to cover up the back and build the boots on top of them. The toe will look a little bit different, but they'll be comfortable and way more durable than a new shoe glued into the sole.

Re: Another Star Lord build (update to boots 8/22)

So, I bit the bullet and ordered the trench coat from cosplaysky. I wrote them and asked if they could do the coat in a different material since I felt the coat was to red I also asked that they NOT include the details on the brown piece that hangs at the bottom of the coat because I'm going to add those on as real castings at some point and asked that the flap on the back be put in the middle like it should be (the images I saw showed it off center). They said sure and off went my money. I received it a couple of days ago, and it was put together correctly, but the color was still red. After arguing with them a couple of days (they wouldn't refund the shipping if I returned it - $30), I talked them into refunding me the shipping and the custom price of $30 so that I only paid the cost of the coat. I'll have to recolor it, but I plan on doing distressing and other detailing to it anyway.

That said, I feel this coat is put together well. The captured most of the details through sewing and padding as the images show and the coat is heavy and lined well. Some details are missing, but they did get most of it. Again, this is just my opinion, I'm no clothier. I'm going to redo the Ravager logo on the shoulder piece (appears to just be painted on) and actually remove the stitching for the detail work and redo it using the same method I used to make the belt and that SoulInertia is using in his coat thread. I'm not happy with cosplaysky, but not because of the quality of the coat. They also included the forearm piece, but the "metal" part is chrome colored, so it will have to be redone to, but the leather base is the same as the shoulder. Here are pictures, let me know if you all have any questions I didn't answer.

That's been my question as well. I'd like to darken the overall color of my vinyl jacket, and I'm not to sure about how I should go about doing that just yet.

You can always try the antique gel... The worst that can happen is what? It wipes off? Alternatively, simple acrylic paints will do wonders. I like to go in on the seams with a brush and immediately wipe and work outward with a damp cloth while the paint is still wet.

Well, I've done some research on this. I found this, and seen some demos but don't know anyone who has has any experience with it. They say it works on vinyl, leather, etc.

I did a color comparison and I'm thinking the "cognac" is the best match. I won't be trying this for a while though.

I had a similar experience with them when I ordered my doctor who outfit. Neither here nor there, I have a full hide of leather and intend on building the whole trench myslef, over here. I don't suppose you'd be willing to take some close up shots of yours...inside out? I'm curious how they constructed it or if it's lined.

That's awesome! I've been looking for something like that. Though I think cranberry or cherrywood would be a more appropriate color choice.

Great advice on the method, thanks for this, Darth (checks the interwebz...) Gah! I just looked at how much this stuff costs; $39.95 for 8 ounces. From the economic side of the ballpark, what do you think of this shade of acrylic paint? (Quinacridone Magenta at only $9.99). As my jacket is real leather, and I'd like to go for more of an authentic, used-universe and 'worn' appearance, what would you recommend? (I mean after I do the orange gradient wash up the back from the belt line (I don't think I can tackle the printed cotton twill stuff just yet)
