Another R2 Update

ahhh...Yes it can spin. Both the scope and scanner will spin as they sit on top of servos. I just ran out of channels on my radio... but I've been talking to Hyperdyne and soon with his help they will be moving.

Thanks,
womo

Womo, what kind of remote are you using that has so many frickin' channels? Does each of those little doors that opens require it's own channel and servo??

That is sooooooooooo COOL. I don't know what has gotten me on a R2 bug latley but I am opsessed with all things tiny droid. Yours is amazing, I was watching the video going "man that is awesome...oh it does that thing...wait it gets better? OOOO it shoots smoke."

Hey Matt,

I'm using a 9C Super from Futaba with a Hitchiker attachment from Vantec. The Vantec gives me an additional 8 servo channels and 24 on/off toggle switches. I'll upload some pics when I get home.

Thanks.

Holy Hell.

How do you know which button does what? I'd be backin him into the wall wonderin why the radar hasn't come out. :lol

Seriously good work. You must be the talk of your town.

How much for the Hitchhiker attachment? What do you mean 24 on/off switches? There are 32 switches. Are the 8 servo channels in the radio itself. Can the Hitchhiker operate a servo? Can you tell I don't know a thing about RC stuff. :lol And I hope my R2 does everything yours does. :(

hey,

The Radio has 9 channels....I use 2 for the drive..2 for the holo up and down and one is dedicated to the Hitchiker switch. The hitchiker was around 400 and change to add on to the radio. The first 8 channels on the Hiker are for servos...basically either on or off. The rest (the other 24 switches) can operate any simple on/off device. I have mine set up to operate all my 12volt stuff...like the holo light...spray, scanner up/down etc.

It basically is a relay that completes the circuit of the device. You plug the positive leads let's say...the holo light to power and the negative leads of the light go into the hitchiker receiver. When you hit the switch that corresponds to the device..the ground is completed and the device works. Make sense?

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Actually no, just more confused. :( I guess I don't understand how a servo works. You need two channels to make it move up and down? I don't get the on/off between the servo and the on/off switch. I get the light on/off part. If a servo is on/off why does it need two channels? Do you need two channels to open and close the panels too since they are operated by servos? Sorry for all the dumb questions.

I'm sorry man for not explaining better....2 channels for the holo movement controls two servos. One for up/down and one channel for left/right. One servo equals one channel. The radio can adjust the throw of the servo...like if I want the servo to just open a panel a little instead of fully. The switch cannot. It only can operate the servo fully extended or fully retracted.

Holy Crizzap. Womo, can I cuss at you for lack of nothing better to say about the R2 that has astounded me?.

Dang dude.

Chris Lee is in my garrison and I get spoiled by his R2, but man, to have you two side by side sometime...I think we would all pee our pants.

Seriously man, that's really impressive. Thanks for the photo of the hitchhiker. I ALMOST purchased one outright, but then i remembered I'm on a schedule :) Gotta get my feller finished, and THEN I'll start looking at extras.

But I think tricking it out with the hitchhiker and all of the possibilities that come with it will be on the top of the list.

Great stuff dude. Tha'ts amazing work. Do you have a blog site for it??

Hey Matt,

no blog...after seeing yours mine would suck considerably.

I know three things about computers....keyboard...mouse...and on/off button :D

well, whatever you may lack in computer skills, you sure as heck make up for it in R2 building skills. DAYUM...
