Another prop for my son, Wolverine Claws

My son is now hung up on Wolverine, to the point of wearing a muscle shirt with his dog tags he got when we stayed over night on the WW2 Destroyer USS Kidd with the Cub Scouts. So I got some styrene and made a claw grip so he can role play. I still have to make the other one but this was a test on if I could do it at all.

Even though it's styrene and pretty flexible, I still won't let him wear it when his friends are over or when I'm not home.

Not too bad for an hours work. The hardest part was test fitting to his small hand.

I was just thinking about this same project, however I was thinking of using foam but wasn't sure, I know paint would eat the foam pretty quick.

That's awesome, wearing a muscle shirt and dot tags lol just watch out for the cat, might see him walking around with three holes in him

I actually started with foam core board but I'm not used to working with it and was having a real hard time. That and the fact I don't believe it would have lasted long at all being so thin. Now that I have the pattern and design size worked out, I'm going to look into other materials that might be safer so he could play with them whenever he wants.

Nice work. Fatherhood Win.

When I was a kid, I asked my dad to make me a bat-signal for my batman toys. He was never able to get a perfect it, but he worked very intently for a long time.

Need some bullet holes in the shirt :) That is a super fun father/son project y'all have going on there. Kudos!

That's a really nice replica for an hour's work!
It would take me longer than that just to get the materials together.:unsure

Well it's not perfect. Each claw is slightly different but not enough to notice unless you really study them. I really ran through it TBH. Thanks for the compliments.

If he had another one of those shirts, I would.:lol

That's way cool! Regardless of how it turns out, it's always cool for kids to remember stuff like that. Those of us today have so much more info and techniques to go by though. If it wasn't for this place, I'm not sure I would know how to make these claws (like the grip holder) where they look like they're coming out of the hands. :cool

This thread is awesome! It's fun to see your kids "gettin' into the hobby" so-to-speak. :) It reminded me of my daughters' obsession with the Tomb Raider movies when they came out several years ago.

(And by the way, no...the guns are not screen-accurate.) ;)

That's cool that your daughters were in to that. My 1st born, my daughter never took to stuff like that even though I did try very hard. She's 16 now and a typical young woman which I'm very proud of. My son seems to be a mirror image of me when I was a kid so he doesn't hesitate to suggest something cool to do. Thank goodness!

i like that you went the extra mile and made the ends of the claws closer to the hand open so they fit around the webs of fingers. i tried my hand at my own set a few years ago (they were on a dowel and fit under the webs of my fingers) and was so displeased with them i gave up working on them.
