Another Jabba's guards' blaster (DL-18) build

Hmmm, this is the main reference image I'm following, it doesn't appear to match either the VD or the MoM pics. The plates come to a point on this one, whereas they seem to cross over a little on the VD. I can't seem to match any of the weathering between the three either.

And it looks to me like the plates come together to a point on Luke's version.

But they seem to be seperated on this guards version.

Thanks for posting those scans. I'll also check ROTJ in HD later today.

Not a great deal to be had from HD. Han's blaster has most of the black paint in tact, the whole thing was probably just sprayed black and the grips painted brown.

The one Han has looks resin to me, the back washer is filled in.

Also isn't that "reference" photo up a few posts actually a photo of one someone from here made?

I was thinking that about the resin one too.

Small update. Made and added the scope rail. As far as I can tell this is exactly what the original looks like. Just a flat piece of metal 3mm thick with slightly rounded corners.

Also now have Lichtbringers accurate machined rear washer coming out of the endcap rather than added on top.

All I need now is the scope which will be attached with counter sunk screws from the underside so they're hidden. I have the rear part of the scope waiting.

Kurtyboy, do you have printable templates of the dl-18 side-plates that you would like to share? I'm building my self a DL-18 this is the gun i bought.ro-72 002.jpg

I'm thinkin' to make a cast of the airgun with out the detailing, never made a cast but if it works, maybe i'm going to sell them in the future

I think he said to do a cast of the gun he has, not a final DL-18 IIRC.

We will see. Now he has a gun only, and tries to find potential customers. When he has the other needed parts, and the people might want them too - the next expected move would be to sell these, too.

And another point is - doing your homework by yourself instead of beeing lazy is usually the better way to learn. :love

Welcome to the RPF dulla :)

The "template" can be found within this thread!
Save the pic(s), scale them up, PRINT...instant template, easy as that lil´brother :cool

But you already figured it out by yourself, right ;)

Iirr you´re checking the interest for a resin-kit of this blaster on TDH - don´t you think you should do your own homework if you wanna make some money?

The cast that i maybe want to make is of the airgun it self with out the movie details.
The detailing is to make this airgun in to a nice prop for myself and not for casting, you're right about doing my own homework i'm for sure not lazy, i'd just tryed to do it more the easy way.
And sorry if i offent anybody.
I'm just a beginner in these kind of forums, and i'm willing to share...

Noone is offended (i think). :)

It looks just a little bit strange seeing a new member, whom you have seen at another place talking about casting of the DL-18, asking for such info with his first post. ;)

Well indeed i can imagine the thought, the story : I started to try to make props since dec. 2010(a beginner) allready very busy with a cardboard boba helmet my first(this tutorial is not for lazy people)
and everthing works out so good, that maybe i'am too enthusiastic.
i allready have more projects that are waiting. 3 days ago i found out what the dl-18 was made of (airgun) i went emedetly searching for the gun in the Netherlands found it payed just €10,00 for it and yesterday i allready had the gun. went all very fast and some times i have that ideas are running wild in my head( enthusiasm ) thing are just ideas going wild. And it was for some people on the TDH that showed me the way to this forum to look for the sideplates.
Regards Dulla73
