ANH Interigator Droid?

Anyone done one? I think it would make a great piece to go with my future ANH Vader display. I'd like to try to tackle this one, but I need lots of help -- photos, tuts, etc. -- anyone?

God I'm amazed that page is still on the web.

I was never happy with their end result (looks "off" a bit) but the potential is clearly there, and I've never seen anyone else come close.

Yeah, we really need to update that tutorial. We actually finished the prop, just never took the time to add the final detailing and pictures to the website.

Really there has not been much of a demand for me to do so either, the Interrogator Droid is one of my least travelled tutorials on that website. NOt much love out there for the I-Droid.

I think some of the R2 Builders determined it was mainly two R2 domes. Severely altered of course, but the base is that.

So you could start by getting one (or two) of the club domes.

I am a newbie here ( my second post) but I have been an R2 builder for a long time. The Interrogator droid top dome is most definitely an R2 dome. It has holes drilled all over it. aside from that it is mostly an unmodified R2 dome. The bottom dome is lager in diameter that the r2 dome. It is possible it was acrylic heat formed over one of the r2 dome forms, or a security bubble. No one really knows.
I built one of these about 75% finished then I sold it. I will build another one of these one day. I do have the correct birthing tongs that o need to get a mold made of. I will post some pics of my IT droid once I find them.

Kelly, where did you find the birthing tongs? I'm guessing thats not the sort of thing you find at Wal-Mart. :lol

I'd love to see some pics of yours. I have some 'scratch and dent' domes laying around here. If I had more time I'd love to turn one into an interrogator droid.

I found a half of the birthing tongs thingie (can't say if it's an exact match) at a flee market a few years back. I imagine someone could use it to mold and cast more. I must still have it somewhere. If anyone's intersted, LMK.

I am still a ways off from needing parts yet. I was just curious where you guys find birthing tongs.

After the next run of domes I'll have my eyes on a the perfect "imperfect" dome to use. Until then I need to get my regular droid done and find a princess to interrogate. :love
