Amazon Slimer Statue Repaint... Finally Started, Pics Up!

I'd been wanting to get the Slimer Collectors Edition game package from Amazon for a while. Well, about a week ago I was looking and saw that the price had dropped to under $30, that included the statue, the PS3 game, sticker and keychain... of course I had to snap it up! However, I see it's gone back up to $70! Hurray for impulse buying! :lol:lol

The statue itself is worth it to me, although I'm not crazy about the translucent green it's cast in. You loose all the detail in the sculpt so I'm thinking of repainting it.

Just wondering if anyone has repainted theirs and if so, I'd love to see 'em! So, post 'em if you got 'em! :) I'll snaps some progress pics of my repaint when I get started.

Thanks!

Isn't that statue awesome? :) I love the DVD that came with it too. I haven't repainted mine yet, but I'm thinking about maybe airbrushing some highlights and shadows on him to bring out the detail. The likeness to the little spud is dead on, and there's a lot of cool surface detail that could be brought out with some light drybrushing. I wouldn't go so far as to totally cover Slimer with paint, just kind of enhance the highlights and shadows to make him look a little more detailed. I think with a light touch a lot of detail could be brought out while still keeping the translucency. ;)

Now that is a GREAT idea! I had originally thought about just doing a total coverage repaint but I really like the thought of keeping him translucent. I didn't know about the DVD. Is it in the game package? I've not opened that yet.

Thanks!!

Re: Amazon Slimer Statue... Anyone done a repaint?

The DVD I got was in the Slimer box, it came in a small paper envelope, it had an interview with Steve Johnson and showed some behind the scenes clips when they were shooting and designing Slimer for Ghostbusters. I didn't get the game, I just bought the statue, don't know if it's the same packaging you got or not. Did your Slimer come packaged with the video game or separately?

The statue itself came in a seperate box, no DVD. It's a shame too because it sounds like it makes a nice edition to the statue. :unsure

Re: Amazon Slimer Statue... Anyone done a repaint?

Just came across this thread, and am so glad you like the DVD. I directed and edited that! :) I had nothing to do with the Slimer statue though. It was cool to see him being sculpted and brought back to "life" after so many years. I've got one and really like it!

Best regards,

Re: Amazon Slimer Statue... Anyone done a repaint?

I FINALLY got around to starting on this little project. Bare in mind I'm no figure painter but I'm pretty pleased with how this is turning out. :) Following B Bills advice, I'm keeping it somewhat translucent and adding just enough paint to bring out the details. It looses so much of the detail in this fantastic sculpt being cast in a clear green, it's a shame really.

Here's the pics of the progress... I've got a bit more detailing to do and the mouth, teeth and tongue and he's ready to haunt!

Have you though about mounting a green light source behind him so that he appears to glow? Though, with your fantastic paint job, he almost does on his own.

I've actually been kicking around that very idea. Where I have him sitting right now, the sun coming in through the window shades gives him a translucent glowing effect which looks really cool! I'm trying to think of the best way to replicat that look with a lighted display.

Thanks!

Hi Beeb! Great paint job! Could you go into a little more detail and describe the techniques and tools you used to paint yours? Did you use an airbrush? Wash & Dry brush? What shades and colors? I just got mine yesterday and its about twice as big as I expected it to be (that's what SHE said! thank you Michael Scott!). At the prices they are going for on eBay, they really are a great bargain! I think I paid less than $15 shipped for mine. It's almost !0" high and I was expecting it to be about half the size that it is.

Thanks for any help you decide to provide!

I would also like to get this info. if you have time to share it. A simple tutorial would also help. I'll keep my eyes peeled.
