Amazing Spider-Man replica suit

hey! i really love how you made the suit! :D can you perhaps give me the links to the where you bought your red and black zentai's? cos everywhere i look, i can only find zentais with the zentai logo on the back :/

Sorry guys, I've been MIA for a while now. But, seeing as how certain events are coming up soon, I've decided it's time to pick this project back up!

I started by putting a lot of thought into the face shell. I wanted to buy one since I'm lazy, but there's no way I can afford some of the over-priced ones in the Junkyard. So I decided to use a pep file from a very generous RPF member to make my own!

Once I got it shaped the way I wanted, I needed to decide how to make it sturdy. Due to my lack of skill in this area, I defaulted to using fiber-glass resin.

So, I got a foam head (mine was a little too small, so I had to add tin-foil and plastic bags to fill in the space) and taped the shell in place over the face.

I ended up losing all of my resin hardener, so I couldn't go through with the fiber-glassing today :facepalm. Luckily it's not too hard to obtain, so I'll get to that soon.

Next, I decided to begin thinking of ways to paint on the web lines. Since my suit was made from "scratch" (kinda) there are no pre-existing webs. This terrifies me, since I will basically be forced to orchestrate a complex line-pattern all over this thing. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. I was thinking maybe chalk base-lines, and then go over it with a fabric Sharpie, then go to adding the slick paint webbing. What do you guys/girls think? I'm kinda freaking out...

Looks great! So glad you went with red/black. Did you know that Spider-Man was originally supposed to be red and black, but they used blue for the highlight colors, and it just eventually became accepted that it was blue? I've always preferred the red/black look on Spider-Man.

I had also thought of using two zentai suits as well, but wasn't sure if it would work. Now that I see yours, maybe I'll go back into planning it.

No, I didn't now that! That's pretty cool! I always liked the red/black look the best as well. Thanks for the kind words! It's been a difficult project, but an enjoyable one as well.
