All things Tron Legacy

:lol I had a feeling it wasn't "End of Line" for the "Flynn Lives" ARG!

So, now I ask the question of myself: Do I proceed with a "Jet Lives" campaign or not?

Additional Edit: After reading the AICN article, I can't wait to check out the short film when the DVD is released.

And, one of my professors from Full Sail, who co-owns a comic book shop plans on holding what appears to be a "Tron"-related party in April. I got in contact with him and actually sent him links to several paper models and links to the DIY Swag from the "Flynn Lives" ARG in case he and his co-workers wanted to add some Recognizers, Light Discs and other papercraft that's "Tron" related to use as decor for the event. He sent me a reply thanking me for it, saying he didn't think about that and he'll present the idea to his co-workers in a pre-party plan meeting. :D

I really hope they start up a new ARG with the DVD, because I missed Flynn Lives. Because I can't wait till 2013 when the next Tron will probably be released. I'm impatient like that. Im sure you understand! Also hope the extra scenes will be on the regular DVD because I don't have Blu-Ray.

Well, the final letter you receive from Zack, one of the heads of "Flynn Lives", states that FL members may be called into action for another mission. To me, it was hinting at the possibility of the ARG continuing if Part 3 was greenlit. So, you never know.

As for the extra scenes, if they do end up only on the Blu-Ray, don't worry. I'm sure someone will rip them and place them on YouTube (like how some have done with some of the Blu-Ray only extras for "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.")

i just stumbled across this...from the AICN talkback

"...Dan Shor reprising his role from the original 1982 Tron (credited as “Popcorn co-worker” in the real world, “Ram” in The Grid)."

Popcorn co-worker!? How the **** didn't I notice this? "Hey Alan. Can I have some of your popcorn?" So he was an ENCOM employee after all, which means Flynn probably knew him before he got ****canned."

HAH! I never put that together. That's pretty cool!!

It's okay, I don't think anyone could have put that together, primarily because of how far away the shot is. You can barely even see Alan's face clearly, so it makes sense we can't tell it's the user who created Ram.

But then again, it also makes sense as to why Ram and Tron are friends, especially in the same context as to why Yori and Tron are together as Lora and Alan are together. Maybe the slightest relationship between two people, be it as co-workers, friends or lovers, carries over in the programming somehow.

Every time I show the first movie to someone who hasn't seen it, that matte painting of the horizon-spanning Encom cubicles gets an appreciative laugh. It tells a one-shot story, perfectly reinforcing what it needs to represent for the movie in the moment.

I agree. You pretty much get the idea that this is not only a big company, but you also get the idea that there's so many workers in the programming department that even the guy who created the Ram program could basically be forgotten in the sea of how many there are. Which would also account as to why no one in the audience noticed that the popcorn guy was the same person who created Ram.

Watch closely when alan walks off... the background painting "jumps". I noticed this even worse in the HDnet version. Hopefully they will fix it for the new BR.

Really excited about the new scenes. I think they are realising trying to throw away the original film and characters was a bad idea. I am hopeful we will get either Tron or Flynn back. I doubt both, but surely one or the other in SOME form.

I also am more sure of the next movies villian, Dillinger jr.

Hoping that the mostly white and black grid was more of a beta that never got finished and what we see next time will be more reminescent of the original colors. The prominent BLUE green yellow and RED.

Love the world of Tron more than the movies themselves. But I really do like both movies.

I just felt Legacy was trying to hard to not only be a stand alone, but still try to cram all of the old stuff in there too. Hopefully the next go around will be more solid of a film instead of trying to cover all the bases. And I also hope they worry more about story and continuity than CGI face tech that was obviously an outdated waste of time and money.

It always amazes me that some Tron fans didn't know that by now :lol - but it's cool to have him back in Tron 3 :thumbsup

I think the big question is will they bite the bullet and call it Tron 3?

Or will this be Legacy part 2?

I love this jet!

Of course I guess it would have killed them to put a stand in with it. So have to come up with something.

I just figure they will call it Tron(insert something here)

Kind of like The matrix, reloaded, revolutions

I agree, especially since most of the tie-in material uses "Tron" with a word following it (i.e. comic: "Tron: Betrayal", the game, "Tron: Evolution"). My bet it's going to be something like "Tron: Corruption."

A little project that I about to finish soon with fontforge, it's the Grid version - using official hires screencaps, concept renders and production stills - pixelated to prevent copy, but you get the idea:

Awesome, where is this going to be available?
