All things Tron Legacy

Does anyone know if there is a high res version of the Space Paranoids poster that is behind Alan Bradley during his interview? I've searched and searched and only found small low res pics. I think this would be a great prop.

I don't know. The closest you could get is the Post Card (14th post down from top): View topic - Encom Postcard Scans

BTW, I've done a first draft to a "TRON" fan film script. I don't know if I'll proceed with it, but here it the MegaUpload link to it. If it doesn't work, let me know and I'll post the GoogleDocuments link (or possibly upload it to the post): MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

I don't know how good it is, primarily because its more of a character study than a "TRON"-like story.

Does the blueray have any commentaries? I was a bit disappointed by the lack of anything on the normal edition. If not i'm not going to bother getting it. I was surprised that i liked Legacy as much as I did but I'd like to see more Tron from now on. One thing that did kinda stand out was the fact that they had Sam mention Alan's son, Jet, at the end as I didn't think they'd have any connection to the Tron 2.0 stuff.
Did anyone else get hit with a wave of nostalgia when Sam powered up the arcade? I didn't realize how much I missed that arcade sound lol. Oh and did they ever make one of the tanks as a diecast? I know there was nearly every other vehicle (I regret selling them now).

Wait... They mentioned Jet in "TRON: Legacy"? What scene?

If that's true, then that means that they're going to do the trifecta from the original, "Flynn and Bradley vs. Dillenger." That would be awesome!

There must be some confusion ... Jet isn't mentioned in Legacy.

wow i better get my hearing checked lol. I swore i heard him mention Jet. It would be nice if they'd work Tron 2.0 stuff into the Legacy universe. It would mean that Flynn could still be alive much like Alan's wife. Also did anyone notice how inconsistent the young flynn/clu CGI is? There are spots when it looks super real and then it looks really bad. It's like they had different people doing the animating or something. I wish I still got Disney XD so i could see the new cartoon.

I agree. Just because "TRON 2.0" isn't canon to the films anymore doesn't mean that it shouldn't be ignored as an idea pool. Think of it like this: in the game, there was a hostile takeover performed by fCon. And with what we hear from the short discussion between Dillenger and Dillenger Jr., it sounds like Dillenger Systems is planning on pulling a hostile take over (and them using a computer virus on the Encom servers while doing it sounds like the kind of move they would perform). And having Jet involved would bring back the trifecta from the original film, the trifecta being "Flynn & Bradley vs. Dillenger", which was what happened in the first film. And, they could even make Ma3a be an upgraded version of the Yori program (for the fan script I did made it that Yori was upgraded to allow artificial intelligence that could interact with Users, much like Ma3a).

I'm not saying make the next film a lot more like "TRON 2.0", just use the pre-existing material to pull ideas from. It exists, why not use it?

Especially since the original creator of Tron and Tron 2.0 is a producer. Did you notice that Sam and Jet are kind of the same character? lol. I thought it kind of funny that Alan never comes out and says he knows about Tron and the digital worlds that Flynn has been to but he seems to know more than he lets on. I suppose Flynn told him unless Flynn took him there at one point. I was kinda annoyed at how they just had Tron start sinking before he returned to normal as a cliff hanger.
On a side note Boxleitner looks better in Legacy that he had in a long time. He got kinda chunky during his time on Babylon 5. Maybe we'll get a Scarecrow and Mrs King reunion lol.

Actually, Jet and Sam are different if you actually pay attention. At the start, Sam is an individual who originally performed pranks as an honor of his missing father. He's more a rebel than his father was. For Jet, he's an individual who is trapped in the shadow of his father. Despite how much he tries to do the things he wants to, his father keeps trying to basically control his career.

Honestly, I think Jet wouldn't pull off the things that Sam has done. But I think the only real thing that they have in common is that they both are skilled in the area of programming (Sam being a hacker like his father and Jet being a good programmer like his father, but possibly an equally good hacker as we find out in one flashback).

Frankly, I will admit, that I think that since Sam lost Flynn, in the years after, since Alan took on Sam as a "father figure", that Sam would consider Jet as a brother as much as his best friend. Which is why I hope that for the next film, they do include Jet as a character, bringing in the "Flynn and Bradley vs. Dillenger" trifecta I mentioned before.

It could be possible that Alan only knows of TRON as his security program, but didn't know about the events from the first film. I suspect that Flynn told Lora in hopes of continuing the digitization experiments, but after hearing about what happened, I think she would have transfered Yori to a floppy disk in hopes of discontinuing the experiments and probably even asked Flynn to stop (which would account as for why no one thought about the possibility of him being trapped in a computer somewhere, as well as part of why she left for Washington for a job in "TRON: Betrayal").

I need to read TRON: Betrayal however the Lora situation is still something that should have been addressed in the movie. Also, Alan not knowing or caring about TRON's deletion/corruption was a big problem in Legacy. TRON was Alan's project that monitored contact between multiple computer systems. Alan wasn't the type to become a "suit" and forget about his work.

The only reason why he became a suit was to protect Sam's interests at Encom.

Betrayal wasn't bad, it was sure better than the Tron 2.0 comics that's for sure. It has some differences in the story but not much and it's way better than the xbox 360 game.

I thought Alan created TRON to watch over the MCP. From what I gather TRON's job at least according to what Alan created him for was done and Flynn put TRON in a different system so why would Alan know anything about his corruption?

Since that was an old version of Tron maybe Alan thought he was deleted years ago and the new Encom systems have a totally new version of Tron.

But Alan wasn't doing the best job of protecting Sam's interests if Sam has to break in every year to make the OS freeware. Alan's appearance was very close to a cameo in TRON Legacy.

TRON was a completely independent program that watched Encom systems and other systems as well as the MCP. The MCP got upset about it and locked TRON down.

TRON Legacy is where we get some lazy writing/vague explanations for the sake of the story. Flynn creates a new world that he claims is beautiful but is really dark and I would assume unfinished. Now, Flynn could have asked Alan to use TRON as a security program but we are never told about this happening (Flynn just works with TRON creating the new world with Clu). If it did happen, one would think after Flynn disappears that Alan would look into what Flynn was working on and maybe using the TRON program for.

Does anyone know the character names of the cyclists that join
Sam on the lightcycle grid? Not sure if they even GOT names....????

Yeah, I was disappointed that the one he was teaming up with effectively didn't make it. There was an opportunity there, even if they just let him escape out on his own too. Oh well. Tough on the grid.

Of course he was doing the best job of protecting Sam's interest. If he wasn't, then he wouldn't even be on the board. And Sam did it because there were more people who took over Encom as far back as 1990 (can't remember exact date), where the board fired most of those who were on Flynn's side in order to take the company "in a new direction." Since Sam owned most of the stock for Encom, they couldn't fire Alan because his job was to make sure that Sam's interests were protected. And they figured that as long as Alan was still out of the way, those that took over the company could "continue to do whatever they want."

So, again, Alan was doing the best job protecting Sam's interest within the limitations he had. Not to mention, he

set up the Flynn Lives movement with RAM, which lead to the page from the Arcade getting through to Alan, Sam getting onto the Grid, finding Flynn and eventually exiting, and leading Sam to step up and take charge.
