Oh and here is Richard Wong of Mystery Style Cosplay wearing the harness:

FYI I hang that 4.5lbs aluminium shield off the harness too and I've never had a problem with that.

I get tons of mileage out of that costume from attending around 10 cons and doing charity work for the League of Superheroes in Ottawa.

I wear my shield on my harness also. I have several different variations. It's essential haha. My arms hurt after awhile of carrying my shield. Slung haha ImageUploadedByTapatalk1425415888.521973.jpg

how do you have it mounted to your harness? can you attach and take off by yourself?

Thanks,

Schlosser

I have a Chicago screw through one of my leather arm straps and that slides nearly into a groove at the top of my back buckle. I can remove it by myself but placing it is tricky without help unless you remove the harness first and re snap it on. I've heard of people using magnets but I don't trust that.

I figured I would leave my last Captain variation costume I put together. I had a stealth suit commissioned and it didn't end up fitting so I was stuck throwing this together last minute for a Halloween costume contest me and some friends entered as a group...The Avengers of course. The shield I made out of a steel flexible flyer. I purchased a faux leather harness from ebay and then attached a 95lb pull magnet to both the shield and harness. The shield holds perfectly to the back this way and will not come off unless you want it to. I am selling this shield and harness as a set because I have another harness coming in from RPF member Kingsley and will be building a new shield. PM me if interested. I also have a suit being commissioned by SMP Designs. Everyone else's suits look great on here.

Hey man, your set up looks great! Mind if I ask what magnets you used? And maybe get a link to the same ones or where you found them? Trying to do the same with my shield and that same harness. haha

Thanks,
Aeric

Hey man,

I used two 95 pound pull magnets I purchased at harbor freight. I picked them up in store but this link should be the exact same ones.
[h=3]www.harborfreight.com/66mm-round-magnet.96650.html?utm_referrer=direct%2Fnot%20provided[/h]It wouldn't let me copy and paste the link so I copied it over by hand..hopefully it's right. I used duct tape on the side of each magnet that makes contact with the other as a buffer to make it a little easier to pull apart. These are very strong and hold the shield up no problem when you line them up properly. Good luck.

Awesome to see people utilizing magnets in this capacity. I have been hesitant to look into it but it seems they work! I'll have some new photos in a week or so.

Very cool, thanks man! You wouldn't happen to have any pictures of the harness and shield apart from each other would you? Trying to find the best spot to put the magnets on.

Cheers,
Aeric

I just finished a test run with duct tape image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg I made an upside down t with my rectangle magnets...I need to make a buffer in between as they like to pull towards each other. Plus a celebratory selfie:)

Working on Cap: AoU for wondercon. Have the suit which needs some touches and building shield from MH Sled. Helmet is also coming along well. Was almost finished with shield when I realized that changed the design for AoU.10982135_10153123203815890_2380854142137815256_n.jpg

Finally got my Cap:FA done for Emerald City Con. Some guy came up and asked if we could take a photo, so I said sure.Clark!.jpg
