Aliens: Colonial Marines

I hate everyone who's playing this. Repeat...I don't have a game console, so I hate everyone who is playing this.

And...I have the flu.

(Un)fortunately there is a PC version. I also have the flu. It is nasty.

But anyway, if you want to recreate the Colonial Marines experience, build a full size alien out of large lego bricks, and drop it from the ceiling while two friends stand in your way. You'll get the general idea.

I'm just now starting to play the multi-player stuff and am having a good time on this end as well. The Survival mode is great fun. Hacking a door and watching it close kinda slow as several player bugs are running at you and it's going to be a photo finish on if they get through or not is very cool.

I still am the worst bug player in the world though. Doesn't matter which Aliens game it may be, I can't kill anything as a bug.

There's lots of hate on this game out there but I consider this a well spent $60 for the amount of time and fun I have been having playing this one.

Gotten a little further into the game. Actually enjoyed it more fighting the humans than the Xenos, then back to the aliens and taken right out of the experience again.

i was the opposite....i enjoyed fighting the xenos (except the ones that could only hear you)...i hated fighting the humans by themselves.....game got really interesting fighting both at the same time

add me to that list of worst bug killers....i couldnt kill anything as xeno....i think out of all the multiplayer games....i only killed 2 marines....

the game was fun to play...there were times i was completely bored.....and there were times that i was having a lot of fun....it was definitely worth the $4 i spent to rent it from red box.....

after beating the game on campaign and playing multiple player......im happy i didnt purchase the game for $60.....the game was fun...but i just dont consider it worth that much...i think the most i would purchase it for will be $30

I don't want to bore y'all with a running commentary, but it does seem to be getting a little better as I get through it. Still some weird glitches - on the hard level, sometimes the Weyland marines cook grenades before they throw them, meaning you basically just spontaneously explode every so often.

Decided to give the game another shot. I grabbed the game for PC, and am playing with the graphics set to high, at my monitor's highest resolution. The game actually looks pretty good, not as good as what was shown in the demo last year, but much better looking than what I'm seeing on the console versions. The controls are tight, and responsive. It can be really fun, and being such a huge fan of Aliens, I am enjoying it. Granted, there are a bunch of issues. For one, this definitely isn't the game we were promised. Two, the Aliens AI is absolutely retarded. They either jump out and casually run towards you, run around in circles, or hide behind crates. The voice acting, and story are equally as bad. A total waste of Michael Biehn and Lance Hendriksen. Also, most of the weapons are dull, and not very fun to use. I've tried just about all of them, and keep going back to the pulse rifle and shotgun. And where the hell is the smartgun??? Have I just not found it yet, or did they seriously not include it in the game???

In short, as others have said, this should have been a 15-20 dollar Steam release, at most. For any huge fans of Aliens like myself, I'd recommend you wait till the game hits the bargain bins, and give it a shot.

I can only speak for the PC version though. The console versions might very well not be worth it at all.

I'm the opposite, to me, the voice acting overall is pretty decent, a little rough in some spots but overall good. What bugs me is the constant use of Actual for Capt. Cruz, seems like someone watched a little too much BSG when they wrote the script. Never in my time in the Corps did I ever hear the term "actual" used that much and my job involved me spending lots of time on the radio too. In the case of the game since Capt. Cruz doesn't use a radio operator or has anybody else speaking for him the use of Actual is pointless and redundant.

I also disagree about the weapons, I find that I use the pulse rifle the least after I got the assault and battle rifles. The assault and battle rifles I use a lot against the PMCs and against xenos I like the tactical shotgun. I still use the pulse rifle for medium distance engagements against xenos sine the shotguns aren't that effective at that range.

Hah, well in that department, I'm probably a little biased. The main reason I wanted to play the game in the first place was to shoot Xenos with a pulse rifle. Once I switch to one of those other weapons, it just kind of pulls me out of the experience.

I do agree with the use of "actual" over radio. I was wondering about that myself.

You use a Smart Gun in the Hadley's Hope level. It's sweet, you have a heads up display and the gun tracks the xeno's for you. You just conserve ammo and blow them to bits.

That sounds pretty sweet, makes me wish I had found Vasquez's smart gun. Of all of the Legendary Weapons that are available to me right now that's the only that I didn't find. Makes we wonder if there's a code out there that would allow me to "acquire" it after the fact.

Awesome! Looking forward to that bit. The smartgun was one of the coolest guns in the original AvP game on PC. That gun also tracked Xenos for you, it was bad ass.

I was pleasantly surprised when I stumbled across Hicks' shotgun. Excited to see what other "legendary" weapons I'll find lying around.

I've been playing Dead Space 3 and tell you what. I think Visceral could have made one hell of an aliens game. They've perfect the suspense part of horror games.

ok question...Since I am feeling like crap and not willing to read 20 pages to find the answer if it is even there...

Did they add female marines? I know there was a HUGE uproar that there were no female "hero's" like Vasquez or Ripley.
