Hello.
I'm actually working on a Nostromo semiotic standard related project and, rewatching the movie in 4K specially for this project (and for the pleasure of watching the movie of course), I saw what look like some kind of explanation of how the airlock works, at the left and the right of the airlock inside door.
This procedure includes three semiotic standard icons, also seen just above the airlock inside door, and also above the airlock outside door:
- an icon not seen in Ron Cobb's semiotic standard concept art (the black square), that could be a variant of the "Non-pressurised area beyond" icon
- the airlock icon
- and what could be a variation of the "Pressurised area" icon
Each of those icons has a text beneath, but, even in 4K, I can't read it…
Someone on the AVPGalaxy forums suggested that the text below the middle one ("Airlock" icon) could be "Cycling". It would be quite appropriate in this context, but it is not sure.
Does anyone know what is written, or has a detailed behind-the-scene picture that could help?
