Alien: Resurrection Money

It's 2.4 million. Assuming 100 notes in a stack. Four stacks high x six columns x 1000.

One stack may be full of real, two-sided bills, cause it gets thumbed through. For the rest, probably just one on the top & bottom.

Wow. Could be even more as I think there's more than 100 notes in a stack. I'd've charged WAY more than that to help an illegal govt. project. Maybe they just were in it for the experience ;) . Who knows.

That's what I was thinking — seems small.

Could have something to do with inflation / deflation. And the fact that it's 500+ years in the future.

Oddly enough, they deliberately chose a fairly normal looking, US-influenced design.

Eh — All that matters to me is that it looks good :)

Mabye heavy deflation? Because inflation is when you need two bucks today to buy what cost only one yesterday. 2.4 million 30 yrs. ago woud've been worth at least double of what is is today. Maybe with deflation it would be worth 100, or even 1,000 times that much in 500 yrs.

Who knows?

What sometimes happens with runaway inflation is the government will 'reset' the currency, stating 1,000 old Dollars are now worth 10 New Dollieros. Sometimes the old bills will just be stamped with the new denomination.

I don't really know much about that topic so I don't know if my post was correct or not. Thanks for the info on that even though it really has nothing to do with this thread.

Just got mine in the mail today and I wanted to say GREAT JOB. Very nicely done, and quickly delivered. I'm very happy with this cool little prop.

Oh the irony.

I just finished producing these for my Colonial Marine buddies just prior to Dragon*Con as collectible souvenirs for their hard work and dedication to our fan table and raffle...

A much older fan-made version of this bill served as inspiration...

But soon I discovered the image of the screen-used one from the Alien Resurrection DVD bonus disc. Since I wasn't happy with the raw quality of the screen-grab I decided to recreate the entire face of the bill using it only as a reference. In doing so, I also took some creative license by placing Woodrow Wilson's likeness on the bill as was done on the original fan-made bill since most of us USCM's were familiar with that portrait anyways -- besides, I thought it looked much more authentic than anything I could salvage from the Bill Batalato image.

I also did some other creative things to make these bills more appropriate to the film "Aliens"...

1) Changed the "SERIES" from "A" to "1986" in honor of the year in which "Aliens" was released. Also, this was a purposely executed mistake by the original prop maker because on U.S. paper currency the "SERIES" always consists of a year, or a year and a letter, never just a letter. They probably decided to simply leave it out because otherwise it would have needed to be some random date in the future -- not like anyone would have caught this detail on film.

2) Changed the "Treasurer of the United States" to Katherine Davalos Ortega, and changed the "Secretary of the Treasury" to James A. Baker III, both in keeping with the correct 1986 chronology for the release of the film "Aliens".

I also did a couple of other little modifications in the spirit of Aliens, but I leave those for the hardcore fanatics to find.

Here's a close-up shot showing the reverse side I designed with Weyland-Yutani 'wings' artwork from a friend...

Oh, by the way -- did I happen to mention that they are all sequentially serialized and have a security stamp on them to prove authenticity and deter counterfeiting?

And since I had about $50,000 worth of these bills just lying around, I decided to wrap them up with an appropriate currency band...

And of course the blacklight trick again... ;)

Please refrain from asking to purchase these as they are not for sale -- nor will I offer to sell them here. Sorry, but this was an exclusive project that I did strictly for my USCM's and very close friends.

Thank you for your understanding. :)

Damn, that's impressive :D

Very nice work. Love the UV stamp; that is going the extra mile :)

How many is that, fifty? *****. That's a lot of work right there, just printing and cutting, not to mention the graphics work.

Very cool. Nice job. Looks great. :)

And thanks for sharing.
