Airfix Saturn V Skylab version available

so what is the difference in the kits between the Saturn V and the Skylab version besides the different nose?

Well, you still get complete parts in the kit for the normal Saturn Apollo unit as the revised Apollo CSM parts tree is intergral to the mold for the display base. The decal sheet is unique to the Skylab Saturn though.

Concerning the differences, the Skylab Saturn has uniquely tooled parts for the orbital workshop modified S-IVB stage in launch configuration. So you get a properly molded rear end, two new body halves (with the micro-meteoroid shield and the solar wing struts molded on in stowed configuration) and the nose cone shroud. You do NOT get the Apollo telescope mount structure or the front of the lab under the shroud. So this assembly, while it can be dismounted from the rocket for display, only represents the OWS in launch configuration.
