Airbrushing TASM2 Zentai?

Anyone had any experience airbrushing/painting the red portions of a TASM2 Zentai suit?

The blue honeycomb looks surprisingly good (for a zentai suit), but the red is very plain, a bit off-color even.
I've searched and searched the many threads on TASM builds and found/seen many mentions of people airbrushing or fabric painting the red portions to darken and/or add the brick patterns, but none really went into detail to explain how.

Any advice to darken the red portions of the suit to closer match the movie color?
Any advice on adding the shaded 'brick' patten to the red portions of the suit?
If you know of any specific products used to do so, that would be awesome as well.

Thanks in advance for any information you guys can throw my way!

Going to update this for anyone searching in the future:
I really don't like the orangy-red tone on the zentaizone suit.
Grabbed a fabric marker from Hobby Lobby (fabricmate chisel tip, red) and tried it on a couple of red squares on the bottom of the sole and it seemed to work pretty well for darkening.
It's a bit tedious, but I'm going to go ahead and color the whole thing this way.

Attached a photo from my phone --- a few rows on the left have been colored.
