Air Force Iron Man Mark IV Foam Build (NEW UPDATE 11/12)

Re: Air Force Iron Man Mark IV Foam Build (UPPER TORSO COMPLETE)

Looking great!

A tip that I missed doing, is to add the bottom rib, which on the pep files is attached to the cod piece, to your other ribs. on the mid section.

Ok. Thanks for the advice. After I re-do the messed up parts from the upper body, I will be building the cod next and I will do just that.

What do you prefer for holding the suit together? Right now it is just taped but maybe straps and buckles or snaps?

Re: Air Force Iron Man Mark IV Foam Build (UPPER TORSO COMPLETE)

This looks really great man keep up the good work.

Re: Air Force Iron Man Mark IV Foam Build (UPPER TORSO COMPLETE)

What are some good ways to make the inside elbow covers? I have heard of using thin foamies and maybe even some rubber but from any of your guys experiences, which one is the most accurate and most comfortable?

Re: Air Force Iron Man Mark IV Foam Build (UPPER TORSO COMPLETE)

Nice job ! Your suit is looking great, nice proportions!

Coming from you, that means a lot so thank you. I hope you start selling your new helmet because that thing is perfection.

Re: Air Force Iron Man Mark IV Foam Build (UPPER TORSO COMPLETE)

Quick question: For you guys that work with 12mm foam, what pieces of the armor do you do in that foam? I just bought some and I am contemplating using it for the cod section. Do you think this will work?

Re: Air Force Iron Man Mark IV Foam Build (UPPER TORSO COMPLETE)

Nobody has got a answer for my question above? :(

Anyways, just a quick update. I re-did the left bicep and I think it looks great. It is now the same size as the right one which is a little smaller than my Ver. 1 bicep. I like the snuggier and tighter fit.

Re: Air Force Iron Man Mark IV Foam Build (UPPER TORSO COMPLETE)

Here is some stuff I picked up yesterday. This is the 12mm foam tiles I bought and I also picked up some buckles to start figuring out how to connect the pieces together.

Re: Air Force Iron Man Mark IV Foam Build (UPPER TORSO COMPLETE)

I also started working on the unibeam. I would love the one that pRoJectEarth7 made but since he is not currently offering them, I have to think of alternative ideas. It's still a big WIP but I like the look of it.

Re: Air Force Iron Man Mark IV Foam Build (UPPER TORSO COMPLETE)

Update: I went out and got some 4mm foam and 2.5 mm. I took the 4mm foam and made these.

Re: Air Force Iron Man Mark IV Foam Build (UPPER TORSO COMPLETE)

I also have competed the cod section. How do you guys normally put this on? Magnets, buckles or just put it on like pants?

Re: Air Force Iron Man Mark IV Foam Build (ADDED ELBOW COVERS)

Split it and use ballistic buckles. I used velcro first and it didn't work at all. Half way thru Halloween night I went home and added bucks to my cod and that fixed my problem of it falling off.
One question, have you put this thing on? It looks great but I don't see how ur gonna fit your head in there! Or is it that, as venko said, "droid better." :lol

Re: Air Force Iron Man Mark IV Foam Build (ADDED ELBOW COVERS)

Looking great man!

My cod doesnt have any openings or flaps. I can just about wriggle into it. I used a pair of braces to keep it held up, you can see in my build thread. That way the weight of the legs which are attached to the cod is supported over my shoulders. Works nicely.

The elbow covers you made look great. I would suggest only attaching them at the bicep end, to allow the other end to slide inside the forearm piece when you bend your elbow.

Well since I cannot slide it on like pants, it looks like buckles is going to be the way to go. I watched STEALTH's Suit Up video last night so I will take that approach and do it from the back of the cod piece.

I have tried it one but since nothing is buckled yet and only held on by tape, I couldn't get it all on but once I get the buckles on, I will definitely suit up and show you guys. Regarding the neck section, I have already cut the front and applied rare earth magnets. I will show it on my next update.

Thanks bud.

Like I said above, I don't think I will be able to go that route as my hips can't squeeze into it. I am only a 30'' waist so this cod section came out really small.

Thanks again. And ooh. That's smart. I will do a test run and see how that works. Thanks for the tip.

Here's some pics of me with the neck seal on. I am using my old chest piece in these pics as I have made a new one since then.
