Agatha All Along - Disney+ Series 2024

The more I try to work out her main costume, the less I understand.

What even is going on with the blouse collar? And her coat, with its weird seamlines, open cuffs, no buttons, a collar that sits on the lapels, and what (from behind-the-scenes clips & promos) looks like a gusseted upper back on it???

Is it me, or is Disney really trying very hard to make witches a thing..?
Space witches in the Acolyte trying make coven life look exciting and friendly, now it looks like Agatha is just a big commercial for witchery..
Are they feeling like Anne Rice was on to some wild untapped market of secret covens of soccer moms and they need to capitalize on this obviously unappreciated population group?

They've missed the obvious audience that wants a lighthearted series focused on Darcy, Jimmy Woo, Wong, and Madisynn as they team up to solve the multiverse's problems behind the scenes.
Yes to all of that except the horribly irritating Madison character. I don't think the MCU needs an alcoholic House wife of (insert city name here) to drag the story down. She would bring nothing to the table in terms of actual ability to contribute toward solving any problems.

I guess light hearted means different things to different people. Being a California resident for decades, I've known a lot of Madisynns and though they are irritating, I do find it amusing to see them lampooned. And I wouldn't mind seeing a Valley Girl played in a Forrest Gump style, just happening to be there to be the Deus Ex Machina in the right place at the right time saving the day through sheer idiocy, perhaps with Darcy breaking the fourth wall each time and giving a Jim Halpert look of disbelief at the camera in the background for that moment. But that's me.

Unfortunately everything you've said there is the opposite of what I would want to see in a Darcy and Jimmy Woo team up show. I wish you well, but I couldn't watch what you've described.

I hope all fourth wall breaks ended with Deadpool and She Hulk and they don't return to any future MCU projects. It removes all sense of verisimilitude for me.

I just finished watching the first two episodes and really enjoyed them.
I won't give any spoilers even though the US got the episodes before the UK.
I will add a little nugget, the end credits have some cool visual references that are relevant to the themes of the show.

I picked up this Agatha necklace for a great price a few months ago. A nice little collectible for the Marvel collection.

I've only been able to see the first, but I did watch Mare of Eastown with Kate Winslet. It was cool how this could've been an episode of that. It was subtle, but I enjoyed how serious the episode started, but as Agatha began to slip the spell, it slowly became almost a parody of that genre. Almost a mix of Winslet & Jodie Foster in the last season of True Detective.

I'll be totally honest...I LOVED WandaVision, & I'm mildly interested in this show, but I'm more concerned with how whatever transpires here has effects on the larger MCU. Hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

The general consensus I'm seeing is that this show is not really aimed at me, but if you do like this sort of thing it's good. Well done and enjoyable and succeeds at what its trying to do. What I'm taking from that is: if you watched the trailer and thought "That looks cool! I should give it a shot!" then the show probably won't disappoint you. But if you saw the trailer and thought "Well, I do like Marvel comic movies, but I'm not sure this one is really for me." then the show probably won't win you over.

So a quick PSA for anyone avoiding spoilers...

Evidently the teen, who's only named 'TEEN' so far, has his real name listed in the credits & subtitles for non-English speakers.

Just a heads up, the info is floating out there & confirmed.

I saw an article online (just the name of the article) that implied this as well. I figure it's a matter of time before some bleeping bleeping moron writes an article with it in the title and you'll get spoiled just by running across something linking the article.

Takes me back to the dumbest thing our local paper ever did. And it wasn't their article, just one they ran. The very day the 6th Harry Potter book came out, hysteria was at it's highest. What do they do? They run a full two page article on it and the subtitle of the headline is Dumbledore Dies. I mean seriously, WTAF??

So, i figure with the amount of AI generated articles, it's bound to happen since we've still got what? 4 more weeks to go?

Having watched the first two episodes, I am no less confused by this costume. Delighted, but confused.
what even is the back of this coat.png

It looks to have gussets that run to the waistline instead of around the armscye as I've seen usually done. There's pleats upon pleats in the skirt of the coat. But what's strangest is...it has a tail.
a tail - why a tail.png

Why does it have a tail?

If it was a panel added to hide a vent in the back I might understand, but there's no vent.
