Agatha All Along - Disney+ Series 2024

I guess I am in the minority here because I find this show to be the absolute worst thing in the entire MCU.
You’re not in the minority, but most of us are just leaving the conversation alone. This show pretty clearly wasn’t made for me. The people that it apparently was made for all seem to be loving it, so…. Good for them. It isn’t ruining any shows I love or grew up with. It isn’t an established character that I’ve invested in.

So there’s no point in me bashing it. Its fans seem to like it, so I honestly hope it runs for 20 seasons and gets better with each one.

Really enjoyed it.

Observations:

1. The series title should've been "Unprocessed Grief All Along" (just like Wandavision!).

2. My one quibble is that there were some things that I thought were really rushed at the end. It could've used another episode or two to cook, although I suspect that if it had, it would've been decried as "moving too slowly," so there's probably just no winning with a story like this for modern audiences. Still, I think Agatha's turn from "basically a bad guy" in the penultimate episode to "You should totally trust her now" in the final episode was...rushed. And I would've liked to see more of her relationship with Rio prior to her pregnancy, to help sell the connection between the two.

That said, it was a lot of fun overall, and had some fantastic acting. I'm also looking forward to seeing these characters in other Marvel stuff in the future. I love the blending of the weird elements of Marvel, specifically the magic and cosmic stuff. Grounded superheroes is fun, of course, but I like when Marvel gets wacky.

This was probably my second favorite Marvel TV show after Loki (season 2 in particular, that's a perfect show!) and I really wasn't expecting to like it. I found WandaVision's latter half extremely underwhelming, so a show all about Agatha did not sound appealing to me. Happy to be proven wrong though.

A nice touch was the cutting away from the big dumb CGI fight at the end. That was one of my biggest complaints about WandaVision's ending, that we have to have a laser fight in the sky. It was probably a budget saving measure here, but to include it anyway and just... not show it on screen? That was funny. Well done lol.
