Admiral Ackbar Latex Mask

Hello from germany.

After quite a while i´m back in the forum and i´d like to show you my latest creation: Admiral Ackbar.

This mask was sculpted, cast and painted by myself (so are the arms but they are still wip). If you´d like to see some work in progress pictures just ask.

Until then

Carsten "It´s a trap" Sacher :)

Here are some work in progress pictures: first the rough "sketch", then the final sculpt and the first latex mask (with me holding it).

Jedimarkj:

I would like to make the mouth move by a simple mechanism (controlled by my own jaw) but i unfortunately don´t have any idea how to do this. Any suggestions would be helpful...

You should think about a rigid underskull with articulated jaw moved by your one and "normally" closed by a spring. Something like that:

The rpf topic is here, if you need it

More ideas:

I considered it for my ackbar costume, but my mask is made of heavy latex and it should not work properly.

Very well done. I built one last year. It's somewhere in this place...You have a very good sense of the proportions which is very difficult with this piece as most of the photos are 'odd' in terms of angles. I have seen some really good ones on here, but somehow they are just off a touch...

You really nailed it. If you ever plan to 'share' your piece. I would be interested. It is truly a great piece of work.
