ACCURATE T-TRACK on sabers and blasters - pics and specs

They don't match any of the plastic used in my real T tracks. That is not to say the actual T track used in the film isn't a more charcoal colour like in Gino's run, but I find it unlikley as all of my real world samples all match in their rich deep black tone.

Every picture that is taken there is different lighting in each picture. You have to take that into consideration. Gino took every detail into consideration with this stuff I seriously DOUBT that he would overlook the color. Besides you say you have REAL T-track. T-track came in all different sizes and shapes and colors (at least different shades of brown and black). Saberfreak's T-track were brown for crying out loud.

I Have some of SF's T-track. I think it is STILL the closest FOUND T-track...

Yep. Brown. :sleep

I really don't think you can compare something you KNOW isn't accurate.

Have you ever seen a REAL saber in person? I have at an exhibit. And I remember them not being glossy DEEP black. I think the fact that they weren't the DEEP gloss black you would THINK they would be is what led many to believe they were actually metal. Maybe even black anodized or powder coated. (that and I believe Hammil recalled them as being metal) They were actually proven to be a hard-ish rubber/plastic.

And have you tried polishing them a bit? Like I re-suggested? Clutch's saber looks perfect IMHO. I have some old blas-tech ones on my ANH. Need to get some Gino grips soon. Really close to my next to do list.

Got my T-Track in the mail today and it looks great! Looking forward to completing my first saber build. @Gino, I sent you a PM about acquiring some more of this fine T-Track. Thanks to you and all the others who helped in getting this stuff made.

I'm getting close to finishing my first saber and the T-Track looks great. I posted these photos in my build thread but thought they might be useful here.

Here's the trimming and filing bit:

I want my saber to look battle-worn and Star Wars grungy, so I bit the bullet and decided to seriously weather the grips. This is my rig for producing appropriate damage:

I put some D-Cell batteries in the paper towel tube and threw the thing around my patio, bashing it into rocks and sharp things. The grips eventually busted off and I did more to each piece by rubbing them on sharp stones. I also splattered lacquer thinner on them to mottle the surface. Here's the result:

It ain't pretty, but it's Star Wars!

Thanks Gino, the grips are great.

Thought everyone might appreciate a pic of my recently finished sabers (built one for a friend) with Gino's T-Track, which I heavily weathered since both Graflexes were kinda beat up.

Hi, I'm BRAND new to this forum, and to the prop world. I've just bought a Graflex flash (spent more than I probably should have), and am beginning the process of creating my childhood fantasy ... an authentic (looking) saber from Episode IV. Have just emailed Gino in hopes he still has some of that T-track, and have devoured this thread. Thanks all who contributed. Question: I'd like to be as authentic as I can to the 1970s era material, and would like to get the correct Exactra 19 or 20 bubble lens. In the interim, am perfectly willing to purchase a reproduction ... can anybody give me a lead on where to buy a reproduction lens, until I locate the real deal?
