Access granted...Spy entry

Any ideas on building or purchasing a generic "spy type" security access panel for a prop/toy room entry. It doesn't have to actually work. Something with a lighted palm scanner and maybe an ominous ACCESS GRANTED... voice, or something along that line. The real deal ones are a big $$$.

I'd say get a large plastic project box from Radio Shack, cut a square in the middle of it and glue a piece of translucent colored plastic in the space. Add some simple back lighting with LEDs and a few neat looking light up switches or LEDs. A few batteries should make it work nice. Maybe cost you 30 or 40 bucks, if that.

Yes, a toy laser pistol with intersting light fx could be gutted and put inside that box, and one of those kiddie voice recorder memory toys that replay recorded sounds might provide the voice.

You could cut out a hand shape in the box, place clear acrylic behind it and attach it in a way so that if you press down on one side it actives the switches for the light and sound.
