AA case begins

I said it before, but I really find it deeply, deeply ironic, and, frankly, hilarious, that people are ticked off at Gino for actually SHARING information and super secret photographs!!:lol:lol

OSK

I quit reading this thread pages ago.

But did I read that right. GINO shared information?

Who had to die for this act of kindness from the high and mighty?

(Grabs the thread, puts a bag over it's head, throws it into a van, drives it back on topic :) )

Any ideas as to when we can expect a verdict/judgement?

Well the case re-appeared on the court schedule (I believe yesterday or the day before) after it dropped off for a few days... Can't say why or what is happening as my knowledge of the UK legal system procedure lacks...

But, one thing is clear after reading other UK decisions they are not done in haste, I would expect several long days or even weeks for the Judge to make a ruling and write it up after all is said and done...

From what has been leaked I would say the verdict is pretty clear... The judge will also be looking over the US ruling and taking that into consideration as LFL's lawsuit was to enforce that ruling... In the end with the US ruling being for $20 million and now with 2 additional years of infringements to add to the top of that, the writing should be clear...

Qui, My understanding of civil cases like this is that they don't run like a criminal hearing. Both sides will need to sum up before the Judge then goes away for a period to deliberate (typically 4-6 weeks?) before issuing his verdict. So anyone expecting a quick "slam dunk" is going to have to wait a wee while yet.

TLC 241/07 Lucasfilm Ltd v Ainsworth & ors Pt Hd

As this thread is titled 'AA case begins' when a verdict is eventually reached can somebody please start a thread 'AA case ends'.

It will save trawling through pages of pointless point scoring and speculation for the next month won't it :angel

Hopefully the result will come sooner rather than later.

Swift British justice :lol

Cheers Chris

Trust me... there is enough of that as it is... it just isn't as public most of the time but it is just as bad...

It's the same with every niche, man. I've given my reasons for the utter disdain I had for Ainsworth before the final verdict ever came out. Just as his supporters have their reasons for liking the guy. I'm sure if he were not involved with Star Wars at all, his support here would have dried up quicker than a jug of water in the Sahara. It bought him a bit of leeway with folks. This doesn't mean those folks are bad, stupid, blind, ignorant or any other disparaging BS some of the more venomous folks here will spout off. It just means they are more trusting. Trust is never a bad thing, even blind trust, or faith.

Well for me it was a matter of examining the helmets and seeing if there was something that might suggest he had the original molds...it wasn't about liking the guy or trusting him. But honestly, what odds were there that he was lying? The guy who fabricated the original costumes...??? Well he did lie and if a crew member from ANH who made such recognizable costumes could do that, who can we trust? In the back of my mind I always thought what if someone else from the crew came along and offered to make props for us (I'm sure names come to mind)? He or she would read what was happening to AA here (by that I mean long before the complaint by LFL) and we'd never hear from any crew member ever again because of the behavior of some on this forum. It had nothing to do with liking AA or cheering him on. But many here had something personal against AA and it really came through in their posts. The forum was presented with a unique opportunity to give feedback on the products being developed by a former ANH crew member (albeit not under contract or license). People here weren't saying we must not contribute to this unlicensed dealer, or it's unethical, they said "bring it on" "let's see more". Then the complaint came out and people were saying "oh he had it coming" and "oh LFL is going to fry his butt over a skittle and then invert his epidermis and set it out to dry"....and the fanmade helmet/armor makers became very quiet then because if it was happening to AA, it could happen to them. Even recently there's been talk that once LFL is finished with AA, LFL will pursue the other known unlicensed helmet/armor makers. Rumor? Well it's all lot of drama if you ask me. All I was interested in was whether he had original molds or not and whether the helmets reflected that, not whether he's an upstanding guy because who can tell? Just because I had hopes he had original molds didn't mean I believed everything he said. Even with what we know now, and how he might have used the clay sculpts, the question is still on my mind what kind of molds does he have and where did they come from? Where are all the other helmets coming from? Just because I want to know doesn't mean I believe he has them....he might but as I've said 4 billion times...we don't know for sure if he does or if he doesn't...that's a simple objective view.

Oh sure! Bring up religion now, that's sure to get this thread locked! :lol
