A tip for getting gloves on fiberglass mannequins...

Something that just occured to me today when struggling to get the gloves on my Vader mannequin's fiberglass hands...

I heated the fingers up with a hair-dryer and stretched them into a more glove-friendly position. It's amazing how flexible the fiberglass becomes when heated. I cooled them under a cold water tap and hey presto, the gloves now fit like a dream.

Dead easy fix. :)

Just thought I'd pass that tip on in case anyone else is having difficulty with the same situation.

Fiberglass????

You sure your mannequin is fiberglass.

Never, EVER heard of a hair dryer heating up real fiberglass for reshaping it.

Well, I bought it as a fiberglass mannequin. I guess it could be some sort of resin mix, but either way it was very rigid and the hairdryer softened it right up after about a minute of intense heat.

I'm planning to build a mannequin to display my Various Stormtrooper armor sets, and have been contemplating making molds of my own hands, then casting them in resin that can be heated and reshaped into different positions...... this thread just brought that project back to mind.
