A New Hope in High Definition - Who has it?

Greetings, folks from the RPF!

I´m trying to track down anyone who has A New Hope in HD form, mainly to get as much reference as possible, but also to drool just a bit over the movie itself. However, if anyone has the other movies than A New Hope, you shouldn´t feel discouraged to post here too, for I´m willing to bet that this would be very helpful to the whole RPF.

Thanks!

And may the Force be with you!

Hermes!

I have all 6 in HD on my DVR from when they were aired on cinemax HD, but I have absolutely no idea how to get them from my DVR to my PC.

I'd like to get them on my PC in case I have a DVR failure, plus, I'd be able to screen cap them for reference material.

I have them encoded in a way such that they fit on a DL DVD (but at the same time look just as good as the USA HD broadcasts). They are playable on an Xbox-360 and on fast enough computers.

I did have all the original trilogy till my PC went and died the other week :cry
Working on restoring them though and this time i will backup(i say that every time)
Here's a bunch of trooper grabs from ANH anyway

I have an AVI of ESB (over 16gb :wacko) My computer's too ancient to watch it smoothly but I can get screen grabs. :cool

with the "creative" use of torrents. One could find a 1080p version of a Episodes I, II, IV, and V. (the person is still working on III and VI)

But yes they are much better than the cinemax versions. They were originally aired in germany. He had to do a lot of work cutting and pasting out the beginning screens.. He made sure every frame was filled in.. so there's less judder than there was in even the cinemax hd versions.. and he even included it with dolby 5.1..

So yea.. basically the best possible version you can possibly get.. like.. ever.. and it'll probably even be better than the one that Mr. Lucas will release on HD (if he ever gets around to it)

correction.. he just uploaded eps 3. so only VI is left to complete the set..

Gruson: haha..... I did the same thing. =)

If anyone has a way to burn an 1080p HD DVD of episode IV, V and VI, for region 1??? USA that is.........I'd love to get a PM or email from ya.

Dave :)

I don't think the cinemax broadcasts were 1080p. I believe they were 1080i. If there are 1080p versions out there, I'd love to see a comparison shot between the p and i.

Fred, this is the only thing I could find on the subject:

Somewhere, somehow people are doing this though, because I downloaded Revenge of the Sith as an 18.4GB Transport Stream file. It's on my hard drive but I have nothing to back it up on. I'd like to figure out how to convert it into an 8.5 GB WMV file. That way I can watch it on my XBox 360.

There are ways to do it but it takes a lot of reading and a LOT of time.

Check out some of the mastering threads over at AVS forum for more information.

Please do not PM me but it can be done....it is just very frustrating and be prepared to make a lot of coasters. :)

It is nice once you figure it out though.

Those are the versions I have. They burn great to a DL DVD and play great on an XBox 360. I have both the full 18+GB version of ROTS and the WMV-HD versions and the quality is the same. :thumbsup

How's the picture quality? Are these in real HD 1080i or 1080P are they copy protected, meaning will they play HD via component?

There are several encodes of SW in HD availible on the net.
I have downloaded tons of different encodes and the best in my opinion is "Wookie Groomer's" WMV 1800p DVD9 encodes. These are spot on, and the best possible encode out there.

Here is his descrition;

The source for this release is a fresh glitch free German Premier HD broadcast posted May 27th 2007 by harlis - Thank you! You are a hero to many! The release as posted by harlis included the infamous German opening crawl, German subtitled scenes for Jabba and 25fps run time in addition to English and German 5.1 audio tracks and a third track with audio commentary. It defaulted to German 5.1 for most users and was not very playable as it stuttered badly on some systems. Not to mention the nearly 20GB file size! To make this English friendly I used the opening crawl and English subtitled Jabba scenes from the British Sky Broadcasting version originally posted January 8th 2007 by 'BK, thank you for that great release 'BK! That edition also had the 25fps speed up issue. I time adjusted both releases and edited out all frames that were German and replaced them with English. Mind you, I replaced strictly the frames that contained subtitles and not the entire scene. I also replaced the audio with the DVD 5.1. I matched the entire running length frame by frame to the source DVD to be certain the audio never goes out of sync. This is necessary as some broadcasts whether it be their source or transmission anomalies either lose a few frames or gain a few frames forcing the entire sync to shift.

You will find these versions at most descent HD torrent sites.:coolAnd they will stream perfectly to your xbox360.

*Edit, if youre after 720p encodes you should try to find "ESiR's" encodes of episode 1-6. But if I remember correctly there was just released a new clean 1080p source from premiere so fresh 720p encodes are expected soon.

Gundrosen's post describes them better than I could. That's what several people here have.
