A L I E N FIVE Neill Blomkamp's ALIEN movie

In [cyber] space, no one can hear you scream.
:p

More like, "In [cyber] space, everyone can read your scream." XD

OMG, I have never noticed this. At the beginning of Aliens you can see the spear gun still stuck at th bottom of the door.

Don't worry, you're not the only one. I didn't even realize the spear gun was there until I watched the movie on DVD with the audio commentary. It's always those small details you miss.

I know, right? I didn't discover that until the BluRay release. It's like James Cameron wanted to be respectful to the previous film, unlike the "Is this even the same ship?" Sulaco from Alien3's opening.

I wonder if they'd be able to cast the original Newt since she's older now like the character, it'd be neat to keep the original cast as much as they can.
She's a school teacher in Florida.

She's also been doing conventions and getting in shape. That costume concept bears a pretty good likeness, actually. And she's already played Newt's mother in a fan film. I have a feeling she wouldn't mind coming back to play the grown-up Newt in this one...

Interesting approach having the "runs parallel" thing. Kinda makes me think that the solution is "It was all just a bad dream" for A3 and A:R. Which I'd be JUST FINE with.

I think that comment is just Sigourney being polite and not talking down two films she was in and has a financial stake in. For all intents and purposes, she is saying 3 and 4 are out.

I'm just happy that Sir Scott hasn't killed the film as it seemed from the start. Makes me want to support Covenant more.

That might be why he is doing it. Considering that concept art got so much praise, he is probably agreeing so people will see his movie instead of being chastised for making it and killing Blomkamps version.

I agree. I think Scott knows that Prometheus wasn't the hit he was expected and needs people's support for the new one, you don't want to divide the audience and risk losing any of them.

I know I'm in the minority here but I just don't get the excitement of Blomkamp doing an Alien film. Is he a huge fan? Ok maybe but so am I but don't give me a film camera. Let me say it this way....does Blomkamp deserve to do an Alien film after Elysium and Chappie? Now if it was Alejandro Inarritu....now we're talking.

I think it's mostly that he wants to un-kill Hicks and Newt (and maybe do some Michael-Douglas-in-Ant-Man de-aging on Lance Heinriksen to bring in Bishop...) and generally making up for the narrative missteps that were ALIEN3 and Alien: Ressurection. I almost think I'd be okay with Michael Bay doing it if it were starting from that premise...

Well that criteria is very subjective.

I didn't care for Elysium. But I loved Chappie.

The point is that using a director's past works to decide whether or not he's "worthy" of doing something else is problematic at best. And since every person's opinion differs on whether or not those past works were good, you will get nothing but a discussion of those past works... and get nowhere as to answering the original question.

In addition, Elysium and Chappie were both his stories, and not an installment of an established franchise. we all know that the way a director handles his own baby is different from how he/she approaches a franchise installment.

Would love to see Carrie Henn back :D Lance? HELL YES :D "but he's too old" frak that. Either the Alien-verse "artificial persons" age, or you could just do a CG version and have Lance do the voicing.
I feel it is about time we change the title already to what it really is, ALIENS 2

Not so much about him that it is the fact that we will finally get a proper, HOPEFULLY - knock on wood, sequel to Aliens. Also the fact that Michael Effin Biehn is back :D

Unlike many other film makers Jim Cameron at least appear to respect what came before. Not to mention he has a real eye for detail, mostly.

......Uwe Boll

I'm not sure what the original question was but are we not all just offering opinions here? So you don't think a director's previous work has any bearing on what he may or may not do with a franchise like Alien? So yes in my HUMBLE opinion I definitely look at what Blomkamp has done even with his own material before I start clapping my hands over him jumping on to an Alien film. Maybe if he didn't self promote his involvement with a new Alien film (after Chappie didn't do as well as maybe expected)....I would think differently about his involvement.

Uwe Boll is an entity unto himself... and deserving of his own category. preferably a quarantined category. :p

This is an interesting notion. (In Bizzarro Earth 2!) if someone handed Uwe Boll the reins to do this movie, would we still go see it? :lol
