A L I E N FIVE Neill Blomkamp's ALIEN movie

We were blessed with one of the best freaking sequels ever made and Scott not only shoots down the proper sequel to ALIENS, he says he wished he didn't let the franchise get away from him in the first place. So, how are we to proceed Sir. Ridley Scott?

I don't usually call things but this time my gut feeling seems to have been pretty spot on. He couldn't stomach that his horrendous quasi-prequel ideas are a lot less hyped and popular than the interest that Blomkamp's film was getting. This is akin to going home with your toys... or rather making sure to ruin them so that no one else has any fun. He's gonna ruin Blade Runner as well with the sequel in these vain attempts to recapture lost glory. Just wait.

We were so close to having Ripley and Hicks kick Alien ass again and now this pretentious, self-righteous and overrated director* seems to have ruined those chances.

I guess having a reunion of more that one of the greatest scifi casts in cinema was just too much for one decade. I guess I'll go back to my dark shed and finish building that Smart Gun...

(* my impression after listening to commentaries and interviews)

When are they going to learn that no one is interested in prequels to established franchises? Star Wars, Alien, now Die Hard and another Alien prequel. Can't wait for the inevitable Indiana Jones reboot prequel starring a young Henry Sr as a globe trotting flirtatious action hero.

Oh, I think the ship has sailed. Blomkamp is on to other things. I would be very surprised if Scott lets Blomkamp make his film while still able to exert any control over the franchise whatsoever.

At this point the only person I might trust to have the sensibility to continue the franchise in the original spirit of the first movie would be JJ Abrams.

Exclusive first look at the new JJ Abrams 'Alien' sequel.

Scott wants his film first out of the starting gate...period! Then, Neil can have his shot at it:rolleyes

I always said that if you're going to wrap Newt in anything, have it be a big awesome scarf and not crematorial wrappings.

I wonder if they'd be able to cast the original Newt since she's older now like the character, it'd be neat to keep the original cast as much as they can.

OMG, I have never noticed this. At the beginning of Aliens you can see the spear gun still stuck at th bottom of the door.
