A Darth Vader Collection and Lineage Thread....

It completely slipped my mind until now that I should update the lineage to include the eFX ANH Vader helmet... :cool

On the topic of pulls from the ILM mold, some here seemed to think that such pulls are representative of something that is cleaned up or that doesn't reflect the original ANH as it appeared on the Tantive IV scenes. That would be an incorrect assumption. Here's yet another illustration of the level of detail such a pull has.

Take a closeup of a screencap of the Tantive IV mask, take note of what is inside the vertical rectangle to the right of the C-scar, and enlarge that area as seen in a straight on view of the original mask in a promo image (middle image). The small square inside the rectangle on the Tantive IV screencap is the lower square on the closeup image, and within that is a detail leaning at a 45 deg angle to the left, as seen in the promo closeup, albeit of still low resolution or as some here like to say, "fuzzy". The top square in the closeup just shows a larger circular bump that isn't visible in the Tantive screencap but that's just a lighting thing...it just provides another fiduciary mark so I could line up the leaning detail. And the right image shows that same leaning detail, in, well, more detail. :) It actually consists of two angled elongated profiles instead of one, another illustration of the limitation of resolution. So if such detail exists in that area, then anything to the left, below, or to the right within a few millimeters would also be the original surface as seen onscreen.

No cleanup. Original detail.

Well as you know I had a security breach on my photo host so hence the loss of images but I'll be putting them back at some point. Just need the time to get around to it. But thanks for reminding me, I guess you enjoyed them. :lol

I always enjoy posted pictures that stay up, so looking forward to their re-emergence. I just half expected it was the same reason as with the other threads where you removed pictures.

Hmmm that would be a Fiberdyne...

I've added the "FM ESB" helmet from the Christie's auction. If someone has a better acronym by all means I'm all ears. FM is for "Farmer". I think it is probably later than where I put it but given the only year I have for Farmer's activities I put '83...

Jez suggested NF Tour for when I added it to my tree.

Where did you get those nice clear photos of the helmet though? Would love to see them.

Just from the Christie's website.... :)

Although the process was long and arduous....especially for maximum resolution...:wacko

Ok added the PIH helmet (DP ANH) and put it and its progeny...Fyberdyne, GH, etc. in line with the Rick Baker/ILM mold. That is a significant change because it reduces what would have been three molds taken off the original ANH down to two: the RB/ILM mold and whatever mold led to the UK lineage of masks along with the Empire Strikes Back lineage and later ROTJ.

So all your barking at me for suggesting that Don Post didn't mold the helmet and they used the US mold (the one we now call the Rick Baker mold) is just poof. Gone. Sure, others said it came from the UK mold. But there's been a lot of back and fourth about whether the original was molded twice or three times. Good you are now down to our two times and teaches me never to listen to you again, as I had the US mold linked to the DP line for a long time.

honestly, you will never know who is right or wrong..without clear provenance, this is just all speculation based on your "opinion".

Hell, I can claim I am a Vader expert and say the PIH is an original...

IMHO that is...

Btw, pretty cool family tree diagram.

Show me where I barked at you about that. And show me your evidence you posted before that the DP lineage came from the ILM mold.

Well I do know. It is all in the tells.
